"Still couldn't quit"? Both my older sister & late Mom tried & tried to quit. Mom went 25 yrs without smoking & she was good for 3 packs a day back then.40 yrs later, in the hospital & not coming home, she told me she could still use a smoke. With my sister's smoking history & Mom's, the addictiveness of it was easy to see & understand. You don't just quit something this addictive.

Smell like arse. I smoked for 20 years & as soon as I quit, I could smell a smoker from across the room. I was devastated to learn I stunk so horribly for 2 decades.

Yes, the constant need to put people down and elevate yourself, especially when you know in your heart of hearts that you’ve got your own addictions, your own struggles, and do not know what they have gone through or are wrestling with to pass such harsh judgement upon them and push your own chest out as if you are the epitome of righteousness and flawless behavior.
Nobody is being tricked. We are all flawed human beings. You are as well.

My brother inlaw just lost his mom this week to cancer. I don't think shaming people on a message board is really going to move the needle, but cancer is a miserable way to go.
She was a stubborn old lady. I remember years ago she had herself convinced that the government was trying to control you and that they just say that cigarettes cause cancer and they really didn't. Unfortunately she found out. She spent her last functional week apologizing to her son and daughter for smoking all those years.
Good news is she got right with the Lord at the end.

I don’t smoke. I just don’t like self righteousness, and think it’s significantly uglier than smoking.
Furthermore, I think most of you have an inability to look at yourself critically to get to the truth of the matter of exactly who you are in order to be grateful, empathetic, or less condemning of others, and that’s a huge flaw in human behavior.
I think we can all find ourself struggling with it from time to time, but make no mistake about it, it’s much uglier than smoking.

I can agree with this, as someone who used to smoke pretty heavily and now only do it here and there I hate the way I smell.
But to answer the OPs question, even when I am smoking now I know it is trashy but I still enjoy it. I have done some vapes because they do help and you do not smell as bad. I guess I will just have to be the trashy guy around OP sometimes.

Say what you want, but it’s tough to beat that first drag after a strong whiskey and coke on a nice Friday evening. It’s a bad habit, but it sure feels nice every once and a while.
