It’s actually a nice town. Less illegals in the mall than Lakeside mall. Definitely get fresh tamales at Delia’s. Pollo Palenque has really good chicken.

Drive down to spacex and just look around. You can drive right through starbase and park right under the original hopper across the street from launch pad 1 and 2.

Go see the 3s and 4s at Hooters.

It was my first and only time I've been but it was near the hotel and my work buddy wanted to go.

Look up famous McAllen Tex-Mex chef ArnieTex (Arnie Segovia) and see if he has any classes going on. Looks like he's right now touring his new book ( LINK), maybe he has a local appearance while you are there.

Baton Rouge connection: decades ago one of the local RGV radio stations was owned and programmed by the Manships from right here in Big BR.

Another good one. University draft house has good burgers. Flying walrus for some late nite pizza if you venture downtown.

Mrs. G’s for breakfast tacos.

Il forno for pizza/italian.

If you’re feeling nostalgic there is still an og Luby’s on 10th street.

I hear that that whole border area is booming. Is it people who are moving in from Mexico legally? Or is it people moving from elsewhere in America down there? Also, is it like overwhelmingly Hispanic at this point?

There's a huge mexican flea market tent city thing that is like going to mexico. You'll be the only one there that speaks english. I bought a macbook there a few years back using sign language.

There was a BYOB strip club when I spent some time in Harlingen for work years ago. They had a line of Mexicans that stood against the wall. You would tell them, "I want a half case of High Life" or "I want a fifth of Crown", give them your money and they would give you a tub like bus boys at a restaurant have and a bag of ice. 10 minutes later, the Mexican you gave your money to would come back with your order from the store.

I think they did it that way because of a TX law or local statute at the time that said clubs woth fully nude dancers weren't allowed to get a liquor license. That was the loophole they found.

Exceptionally exceptionally Hispanic. Most are pretty conservative(religiously and family wise) and legal immigrants.

Maybe 5-10% of my customers are white.

I have never frequented a strip club in my life but I think all nude strip clubs can’t serve alcohol. So if you’re going to go that route you have to have a good way to substantiate the bad decisions.

Not really the place you want to be getting out and about in. You should stay in your hotel, door dash for food. Very unsafe area.
