that’s dumb.

Who ever came up with that line should be laughed at

Tried it with some of mine. Nothing. Guess I didn't chop it up good enough, now I have big chunks stuck in my throat and sinus. I whistle every time I breath and my wife keeps asking wtf is wrong with me.

rehab isn’t the greatest place to be either, unless she’s ready change, surrounded by other drunks and druggies that don’t want to be there that sit around reminiscing about how good that life is

I agree unless she’s ready rehab will do her no good. Does she actually need it though. A 19 year old drinking and snorting pills doesn’t mean she’s an addict

Would you have died if you just stopped cold turkey and not did detox? That amount is seems very dangerous to just stop.

that's awful. good luck to you

I don't have a ton of experience or knowledge regarding substance abuse, but I was a 19 year old in college and the idea of getting taken out of college and told i'm addict that needs to go to rehab is a lot and i'm sure her head is spinning. Thankfully I never had issues but even still, the thought of essentially being told that I can't drink anymore would probably have me saying and doing awful shite to my parents. Partying early in college can feel like the end all be all.

My wife is a therapist at an inpatient facility for women and teens in Columbiana, AL. They specialize in eating disorders and substance abuse. They have girls/ladies from all over the country there. If you’re looking for somewhere to send her, they have great programming options.

Really dude! And the rest of you heartless assholes posting "pics", "I can fix her", etc. This man is hurting and his daughter is on the verge of ruining her life or worse. Grow the hell up.

Agree. Man types a page obviously to look for any help or feedback to try and help his daughter and the comedians of the OT decide this is the time to post stupid shite. Been on this site dam almost 20 years and sometimes you post stupid response to a stupid post. This OP's post didnt read anything other than being a man looking for any help he could get for a bad situation. Good luck OP anyone who has a teen /young adult just getting started always fears these types of situations. Hope you find the resources you need to get your daughter on the right path.

Helluva hill to die on fella.

There’s literally an article posted about the rising abuse of the drug you’re saying is 100% abuse proof.

quote:

Bupropion abuse is a growing public health problem

Although bupropion shares some structural and pharmacologic properties with amphetamine, early research suggested the drug did not produce any psychostimulant effects.1 However, clinical experience and an increasing number of case reports describe bupropion abuse,2 including recreational ingestion, nasal insufflation of crushed tablets and, more recently, intravenous injection.3 Bupropion abusers report receiving a “high” similar to cocaine abuse, but of lesser intensity.4

You work for Bausch Health or something?

OP, sorry you’re dealing with this. As others have said, I don’t think rehab is going to do any good but she’s definitely struggling with something. Talk with the school, see if there’s a medical withdrawal and get her some metal health help.

If you have a safe, lockup all medication…like all of it.

I’m on 200mg of Wellbutrin. It’s a mild antidepressant and doesn’t really tackle serotonin so it’s more of an upper and can give people anxiety. It can make people have rage or snap at higher dosages.

I would try a SSRI or there is a newer version of Wellbutrin mixed with an anti anxiety med called Auveulity.

Actually Prozac is approved for eating disorders so I’d swap that for the Wellbutrin. It also helps with addiction.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but there’s a lot of research now with psychedelic retreats. It’s Dr monitored and people come out of those things a new person. For people with addiction and PTSD. There’s actually a new documentary on Netflix about it.

Rehab and Jesus. Don't love her to death by enabling her. You have to get her in rehab and if she refuses, you have to let her live on her own and pray for the best.

Great example of advice/resources. If you have no knowledge and/or experience with addiction or mental illness, or lack compassion for a father looking for help, you should keep your comedic comments to yourself and move the F on.

actually it's not... and there's a very key comment in what you posted...
quote:

early research suggested the drug did not produce any psychostimulant effects

research, likely done by during the clinical trial phase, under the supervision of the FDA, states NO psychostimulant effect...

quote:

Bupropion abusers report receiving a “high”

and like i said, drug addicts will take ANYTHING you give them, and if they can't identify it, but yet are told it's a drug that will get you high, will report getting high... again, placebo effect...

Buproprion will potentiate a psychostimulant drug, but it, in and of itself, is not a psychostimulant, so buproprion ALONE will absolutely, 100% NOT produce a "high"... if it did, it would be a scheduled narcotic... but it ain't b/c again, it doesn't get you high...

quote:

You work for Bausch Health or something?

no, but i know a thing or two about drugs, especially this one, considering i take it daily
