Man this just triggered a great Christmas memory. This is how my grand father wrapped his pipes. I have vivid memories of assisting him as a kid wrapping pipes with towels and duct tape.

If you can set the timer on your dishwasher to start at 3am that helps too.
How would this really do much, since dishwashers only use a couple gallons of water, recycled by a pump? Serious question.

What kind of shitty houses do some of y’all live in with all this burst pipe talk?

It's going to be cold here on the Northshore but nothing like I thought we were going to get. At least from what I am seeing on my weather app.

Hell yeah. My grandpa had quite the system. At some point he built these little rectangle boxes to cover pipes as well. Good times.

Serious question: what are your estimates on chances of road closures I10 between Lafayette and New Orleans? Wife and I are planning the drive on December 23 and return Christmas Day. Hoping to spend Christmas Day with grand daughter. Since my son died (8 years ago) we have always spent Christmas alone.

Think the chances of snow or ice are low. Just cold temps.

I’m waxing my skis right now but trying to decide if I should ski Money Hill or Monkey Hill. Money hill has some sick vertical.
If you tackle Monkey Hill then try the Indian Mounds. If you can tame the Indian Mounds you will be ready for Driskill Mountain.

Local weather channel in Tennsippibama still sticking to 60% of precip on Thursday with a high of 49 and low of 7. The low bounces around a little but they've consistently stuck with that forecast for a few days now and it mentions snow but obviously thay will all come down to timing of precipitation with temp drop plus all that complicated air column stuff yall talk About
Regardless it doesn't sound like a fun time at all and could be a hell of a mess

The likelihood of road/travel issues is very low. You're likely just going to have cold and wind. I always throw an extra coat, boggan, gloves, and maybe a blanket in the car when traveling during really cold weather. That's a "better safe than sorry" type deal. It doesn't hurt anything to have, and you'll have it if you need it.

Probably 20° with a 15-20mph NW wind. Wind chill would be around 5°. You'll hate life if you have to be out in it for any length of time, but not as bad as it could be.
