It's more like people on this board like to suggest other folks should shred their money. You also live in Austin, where people like to throw good money after bad.

Most supposed legal issues can be solved through the prudent use of search engines and this thing called reading.

However, I am continually amazed at the people here that can create complicated arse financial/real estate tie ups with extended family, etc. Those people are nuts.

Instead of Bird Law, you're an expert in Board Law.

"Call my lawyer" means you have one on retainer generally. They may have general knowledge but most good attorney's will punt and tell you to call someone that specializes in your needs.

I never knew I needed a lawyer until I saw a commercial during the Price is Right and it was then I realized that I was truly injured when that shopping cart bumped into my side view mirror. Did you know whiplash is a brain injury??!!

Unfortunately, I have several attorneys on retainers ... each one I use for different things.

I also have two daughters whom are attorneys. They don't count.

I use my youngest daughter, a Phd, Clinical Psychologist, for more advice than I do either of her two older attorney sisters.

If your company has a law plan benefit I would reccomend it. Used it multiple times for different circumstances (estate planning, trusts, real estate, etc.) and have never paid a dime out of pocket.

Anyone who says this absolutely does not have a lawyer.

I have one that did my will and another that handled my divorce, but I never refer to either as "my lawyer".

At 46 years old I’ve never needed a lawyer for anything. Am I missing something or is there a reason the average person needs to have a standing relationship with a lawyer?

Have you purchased land or anything with a mortgage usually someone has to fill out the legal paperwork and sign off on it? Even if the person doing the paperwork may be a broker or underling, they may work for an attorney that signs the final documents.

Also, if you lose a parent or close relative, a lawyer would usually handle the legal filings for a succession.

If you get into a car accident, a lawyer is there for your insurance company to battle the ambulance chasing attorneys that cause insurance rates to be so high in Louisiana.

Attorneys affect almost all aspects of life. They are are like roaches, when you turn on the light you are liable find one.

If a lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client then I guess I have a fool for a client.
