The incident happened when I was in college back in the late 80s. I am now old. Although I am a legitimate she, the years have not been kind to me.

Since it really seems no one else will, in the last 2-3 years I’ve evolved to just approaching these types of folks point blank with, “Why don’t we go ahead and turn that garbage off? No one else wants to hear it. Thanks”.
While blunt, you're doing the Lord's work. A lot of these people genuinely don't think anyone's bothered or think that they're getting away with it. Direct confrontation shuts it down in a hurry

The amount of people blaring their stupid fricking phone is unreal. I’m surprised how many older well to do looking people do this as well.
I was in my cardiologist waiting room recently when an old man was doing this. I have no idea how people think this even remotely acceptable.

We were on a flight, even wearing headphones, his music was annoying my wife. As soon as the seat belt went off, she went over and said something to the guy, immediately he shut it down,. She told him his music was interfering with her husband's pacemaker,
I've never had a pacemaker. But he was a nice guy, he stopped by later to apologize and gave us tickets to a show.

People have become extremely disrespectful when it comes to volume control. What I see most is having conversations on speakerphone

just had this happen on the way home from Chicago
an older lady was playing some sort of game like Candy crush, the flight was only 30% full … and she was probably 80 …. so nobody really said anything
we just put our headphones on and laughed about it…. She was having the time of her life. You could see it in her face.

Genuinely funny.
And disappointing someone would believe this.

I do wonder ,do you think he just had no self awareness or just wanted someone to tell him something?
I just know if you had mentioned anything you would be giving him ”disrespect”

I was on a flight where this old guy didn’t realize his Bluetooth wasn’t connected. He had his earbuds in and turned the volume all the way up bc he was having trouble hearing

I was on a flight a while back where a brother was playing some football game on his iPad with the volume turned all the way up. Out of Atlanta of course.

Before Ipads, three young brothers on a flight were in the row in front of me. Each one had a different tune and their heads were acting as speakers.
We had a stewardess ask one to take his earphones out and listen to the others. He couldn't stand the cacophony of sound and had the others turn theirs down, as well.
