No, I’ve never snuck in but I sure make sure we take advantage of it if offered

I owned a taxi cab service for years and plenty of times i went in the hotels early, flirted with the female receptionists, drank free coffee, got a free newspaper and occasionally helped myself to some breakfast.

A former co-worker of mine used to go to the Drury Inn in Essen Lane several times a week to eat breakfast before work for free.
He looked the part of a business traveler and was never questioned.
Edited to add:
He also lived behind a hotel. A Patel owned hotel. He would go swimming there as well. With his kids.
Had all the amenities without the responsibilities.
It worked for him. And it was also kind of funny as well.

Does happy hour count?
Embassy Suites had free drinks for an hour at 5, this was in the 90s. In college, a couple of us would occasionally attend. A buddy had an old plastic key card to show the bartenders if they asked but that was rare. They didn't care.
ES did breakfast too but I wasn't going out of my way for that.

Sounds like you found yourself in what they call a “soup kitchen”.
Nasty. Respect for being man enough to tell that story though

Did it for a few days when some family members were staying at a hotel in town and at a hotel in Phoenix when I was travelling across country. Our hotel didn't have continental breakfast, but the one next door did.

Once when we were in college in Atlanta for an SECCG and had just enough money for beer.

Was a raft guide in CO one summer. Tent camped all summer on national forest land. Snuck into many hotels for breakfast while there. Never had any issues.

I work downtown and used to walk by several hotels daily, but never stooped down to sneaking in for a free breakfast.
I did hit up their clean restrooms if I was having a turd emergency though

I worked for a guy once who had all kinds of money. He told me that he considered eating at the homeless shelter for lunch daily because he hated buying food.

I was in D.C. recently and stayed at a Hampton Inn. Breakfast is from 6-10 AM and it was pretty busy the time I went down to the buffet area.
I got to thinking…how would they know if you just walked in a got a free meal? Obviously if you look homeless it wouldn’t work. Probably if you had casual work clothes on with with a laptop bag of some sort and came through the back.
The breakfast one could get out of the dumpster in the back of the motel would be better than most motel lobby breakfasts.

Our CEO is loaded. Lots of passive wealth. The man has never paid for a cup of coffee in 30 years. Refuses to. Eats a homemade ham sandwhich and off brand Ruffles every day for lunch. At his desk.

Neve done it before but I could see it as easy. Most of the Marriott concierge lounge access requires you to swipe a room card to get in so that's much harder but not impossible. Only rarely have I been required to swipe or provide a room number for the low budget hotel main lobby breakfast buffets. Now you've got me wanting to try.

The better move is to sneak into the evening manager's reception at places like Embassy Suites. 2 hours of free drinks - beer, wine and well drinks, and light snacks that is more than enough to make a meal off. Several other chains offer similar offerings but as far as I know EVERY Embassy Suites in the world does it, every evening, around 530-730. If they ask for a room number (they won't) just make one up...the folks putting out the food and pouring the drinks are making about $8 an hour...a $20 bill is more than enough temptation to let an entire city eat and drink to their fill...
