I think by now we all know that they are selling OUR land for THEIR profits.
Vote them out.
Vote them out.

This all comes down to general distrust and riff that has developed between constituents and their government, as well as the Tech elite.
Its not getting any better since COVID...and will continue.

Because BFE needs the entire energy and water infrastructure built from scratch. And you also need places to house and feed workers during construction. Being adjacent to a small metro area has the best blend of cheap land and existing infrastructure you can take over.
Like Shreveport, Monroe, Abilene, etc.

I feel like this can be accomplished with the funds they throw around

Don't they usually put these baws up in trailers..I could be wrong on that
I do see where metro areas are lower hanging fruit so to speak, but when housing a giant empty warehouse that's going to suck up resources.... in the long term it seems to make sense to not do this near...people who need resources

But it takes forever and is extremely expensive to build in a remote area. Just getting all the easements alone is a huge PITA.

There will be man camps, RV parks, etc. mostly privately owned people taking advantage of it. I know a few people doing this in abilene and monroe. But you also need hotels and somewhere for managers, engineers, investors, etc to go. It's just easier if you have at least a regional airport with somewhat of a city to support that.

I need to call some bullshite on this.
GA's public service commissioner went blue because the election wasn't in the normal election cycle and the only people who took time to go vote in this election were the metro ATL Karens. This had nothing to do with data centers.

Data Centers didn't create this process they are just using the system in place.
Don’t be so obtuse. They 100% HELPED and are continuing to help shape the process with millions in donations and kickbacks.

And that power bill inflation was oft-attributed to a data center building boom rivaled only by Virginia’s.
"oft-attributed" = moronic bullshite. The new data centers in GA are being powered by the new nuke plant that only took 30 years to build. That does not affect people's power bills.

They are really needed, without data centers how am I going to make AI videos of my dog curling?
Yes, the massive push for useless/baseless AI (like the dog curling) is just crazy. I'm not against AI for real life scenario and work stuff, but making pictures what the OT Baw would look like and some big guerilla talking about stupid $hit is just more than dumb.

That is the system that was in place before they came along.
People on this site argue for ITEP every time it comes up. I don't get why they are so against it now.

It's called "step up in basis". Could be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars if he waits and you guys sell it after he dies.

This I get. However he better set it up in a way that proceeds not a subject to probate if he wants to "save you the hassle"

Because the alternative is that China wins the AI race and we all speak Chinese. That’s if we’re incredibly lucky that is.
It’s more likely that if China wins the AI race, they just decide to dispose of all of the none Chinese people.
Those are the choices. It’s not Sam Altman or Elon Musk versus us. It’s us versus China. No matter how much you want to stop this in the United States, China, as well as many other countries, will keep going. It’s happening. The only question is whether the United States wins or another country like China wins.
So why again are you so hell bent on stopping the U.S. development of AI?

Good for him! I probably would have done the same thing at 86. Not 46 though.
Legit question. I wonder how many people on here would turn down 15 million knowing it would be for a Data Center?
I’m thinking 0%.
