BMI is a joke. Devonta Freeman is listed at 5'9 209lbs. His BMI would be 30.1 and would categorize him as "obese".

People don't cook anymore and when they do it is some prepackaged crap like hamburger helper. The American diet is filled with garbage.

I just paid $14 for a salad at lunch today. And the only way I could choke it down was with 3 extra servings of ranch.

Over-eating is an addiction like smoking, drinking and drugs.

Being fat and pale used to be a sign of wealth.

Honestly, at my last HS reunion I realized how awful my former classmates looked. The guys were particularly old looking and way out of shape/fat. That said, there were a few that looked great.....I'd like to think I was closer to them.
What befuddles me is that they apparently just said "frick it!". Luckily I still have an ego that I feed through trips to the gym. Could I lose some weight? Hell yes! But I still maintain a somewhat muscular stance.
I really saw their drop in pride/dignity around age 42......sad really.

I'm somewhere between 9.5% and 11% (they're all estimates) and my BMI is right at 25. I run 8-10 miles a week and lift 4 or so days a week. Its a garbage stat.

BMI is a good application for normal people. for those who are on the athletically gifted / genetic exceptions, it does not apply.

I am not praising BMI, but you are giving exceptions to the model. Generally speaking, higher BMI means you are fat. Most people are not athletic specimens.

Except only 0.00000985% of people with a BMI of 30 look like that...

When I saw the “binge eating disorder” commercial on tv a few years back, I knew it was over for us all.

You really notice how foul and disgusting the average american is when you come back from overseas. It's easy to become immune to how many obese people there are.
