If you go with 4 people for 2 hours, which is more than enough time, it’s like $30/person plus whatever food and drinks you buy. What are you doing for less than that?
can't speak for all of them but ours used to have a 2 hour special including a pitcher of beer or soft drinks and 2 apetizers plus 2 hours of range time for about $100. For 4 people that is a pretty cheap 2 hours. I haven't been in years but it was always a good time....

I'd rather get a club, some balls, and a bottle of thunderbird sneak unto a course somewhere light the balls on fire and watch em fly. Plenty of money left over for some crack too.

It's definitely "softening" as others have stated. Proliferation and apparently doing a shitty job of protecting their IP have let them down. There are several brands out there doing the same thing, i.e. Drive Shack.
It's not cheap, but it's not as expensive as people are letting on. They always have deals, and if you have 6 people in a bay, it's reasonable. We used to go bowling all the time, but it took a stupid arse leap a few years ago from their Sunday 1.99 games to it costing $100+ for a family of 5. Screw that.
We don't go unless it's a company event or a random birthday party. When it first opened, you'd be lucky if you got a bay. Now, there is a good chance you might have the entire floor.
Ours used to have a kids' area with ping pong, foosball, game consoles, etc, and the last time I was there it looked like that was long gone.
I saw that Callaway is likely spinning off Top Golf, will see if it happens.
The indoor putt putts with RFID balls are all the rage now. Also expensive.

It's amazing the world hasn't learned that fads run their course. It's like froyo places all over again

I live in Nola and we have a knock off called Five O Fore. It has been open less than a year and I went on Saturday at 7:00 without a reservation and was able to get a 1st floor bay with no wait. Thats not good for that place's longevity. It couldn't even hold capacity interest for 6 months.

Top golf has never been fun. It's expensive. The games aren't playable for novice golfers. The food is below average. Without corporate "team building" events they wouldn't have even lasted this lon
Yep. The only time I've been was a company team building event at a Spring, Texas Top Golf. It sucked.

Went once because company event. I thought it pretty much sucked. I guess it’s fun if you want to get hammered and just hit some balls. But just didn’t appeal to me.

They've built one of those here in Lafayette right next to the Top Golf and I've never bothered going to either of them.

It needs to be about 20 an hour

Legit question, what exactly were you expecting to do?

exactly, it's a bowling alley with golf clubs

The problem with this is that you can put up bumpers for bowling and my kids can have more fun and not get too frustrated with it. Its extremely hard if you don't play golf to hit a good shot and make it in the targets at top golf. (higher barrier to enjoy than bowling)
I didn't know this until last week, but their Top Golf balls are flight restricted. So if you were a real golfer who wanted to legit practice you are always going to be 30% shorter. Avid golfers would probably rather go to real driving range and use better balls/clubs.
