I've had plenty of other vehicles come and go but my 2000 F-150 5.4L w/ 87k miles, never getting rid of it. I have a new Rav4 as my daily driver, great so far but I am building a spreadsheet for maintenance and common reported problem and parts (e.g. PCV valve that basically requires the intake manifold removal). I opted for the 150k bumper-to-bumber warranty.

I don’t keep up time-wise. Usually 250k is all I want to put on one.

Daily drivers are 1yr and 18yr… occasional use are both over 25yrs.

So, til the wheels fall off.

My 25 year old Camry drives better than new thanks to the KYB struts that I installed last April. I despise the idiotic complexity of new cars.

As long as I feel comfortable driving it.

My previous vehicle was a 2014 GMC Acadia. 155,000 thousand miles.

Last year, I had to replace the starter and a few other things: $1600. Also last year, the engine overheated and left me stranded on Airline Highway in Prairieville. Luckily, that repair was only about $300.

Two weeks ago, the engine overheated again and left me stranded on Siegen Lane. I managed to drive it to the Honda dealership on Seigen, and bought a new Passport on the spot.

Moral of the story: I would have kept the GMC, but I just did not trust it any more.

I have a 2021 and a 2013 right now. Both owned since new. Really don’t want to give into these new car prices but that 2013 is getting a little long in the tooth.

Averaging 12 years in my house.

Mines('17 silverado) currently 9 years and 200k miles in. Will likely push this one a little farther as I have very few issues with it so far. Only major thing I have done is replace the ac condenser at about 100k.

We have always kept new cars 10 years, until Covid had us working from home more and barely putting miles on them. Just hit 10 years on my current car, and I plan to keep driving it a few more years.

I sold my 2011 MINI Cooper JCW in 2024. Had about 167,000 miles on it.

Good point. The blind spot sensors in newer vehicles are a game changer. Imagine explaining to our kids how you used to have to turn your head and try to glance out the window behind you at interstate speeds to tell if you had somebody in your blind spot
