The past few frames show Lee's eye fill in. Now you can see convection firing and trying to wrap back around to form the new eye. Water vapor imagery shows it pretty well. I hope the flights are timed right this evening/tonight to get a good picture of the enlarged windfield.

Yeah, I think we probably have an EWRC ongoing, and maybe a little bit of shear on the western side of it. The eye has gotten smaller for now. We will see some fluctuations in intensity over the next few days.

Here's a view only a handful of people will ever experience in person. Looking up into the eye of a Cat. 5 hurricane over the open Atlantic.

do Waveland MS, and then factor in the 120 mph wind and the fact that storm surge as reported does not include wave height. 35' was spot on for where i was

That might be true, but the original claim was there was a 35' storm surge in Long Beach, which is objectively false.

You're trying to pull a me on this one, but even I wouldn't do that with this particular storm surge.

If this thing turns north and fizzles out in the North Atlantic, it will be a beautiful thing. Churn those waters.

If not, it will be a really bad storm.

Probably in the Wednesday/Thursday timeframe, depending on the speed at which Lee is moving. Its movement is expected to slow down considerably in a few days.

I’m vacationing in the middle of the Atlantic this week, can someone let me know if I’ll be affected by this thing?

Just close the door to your hamster wheel and you should be good.

Eloise was a bitch too. Rode that one out in PCB. Completely remade Destin/FWB.

This too shall pass and eventually fade away into nothing, hopefully without causing any more unnecessary damage.
