Yes, also noticed the past few days. It’s like a hot slap of air from the oven.

surface temps in fhe MS Sound dropped five degrees below what they had been because of clouds and little rain the area received yesterday. Surface temperatures are for clicks and ratings. It’s always hot enough to produce a big storm - but there are other important factors that don’t drive ratings at the travel ball Facebook mom’s house

You can also add a low flowing Mississippi River to the mix. The amount of freshwater coming down can also impact the surface temperatures on a small scale near the mouth of the river.

But just remember deep down below the surface no matter how hot it is in the air the water gets colder as you go down. I remember the experts commenting about this during the Deepwater Horizon incident.

fast moving tropical storm/depression wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen right now. The Euro is still a believer and brings anywhere from 2.5-10" of rain from the coast into a swath of Texas.

NHC seems to be leaning towards the GFS/GEFS, which keep things pretty weak and into S. Texas. Maybe a depression? The Euro/EPS continue to be more aggressive. Somewhere over the last couple of upgrades, the Euro has started to struggle some with how it handles convection and has been too aggressive; this might be why the EPS has wanted to spin up systems this season in the longer range only to back off and join the GEFS.

With that said, I'm a bit skeptical of the 12z Euro, esp. since it strengthens the system as it moves across bone dry Texas.

It's it just me, or does the wind seem to be blowing pretty constant now. Close your eyes and it feels like you're in Arizona.

This summer has felt more like we are in TX than LA. Late afternoon when the sun is setting, the breeze is blowing, and the low humidity combine, it’s not your typical Louisiana August.

RDS,

How do we feel about the CAG based development that models seem to be latching on to the last couple of days?

Personally skeptical, but they have all trended towards that result

If a weak depression hits SE Tejas will all the rain and weather be lopsided to the east like a hurricane or what?

we get another 1 day break next Tuesday with a slight chance of rain and the possibly to break the consecutive 100 degree day streak.

Latest model runs don't lend much hope for help in the way of a weak TS or TD. GFS is now doing nothing much at all with the Gulf area of interest, and the Euro has started backing off from it as well. Euro is still showing some rain, but not like it was, and it still has that suspect strengthening after the system is into TX.

Lows in New Orleans have been 82 lately. We were in the 70s for the first time in weeks during this monumental cold front yesterday.
