There’s not much within reason I want to do that I haven’t. There’s a few things that I consider from time to time - like spending 2-4 months in the Holy Land or Rome, but even those I could do now if I had a driving desire to do them.

I guess I still haven’t killed a nice mature bull elk, but I have had 8-9 years in elk camp now with solid opportunities most of those years.

If you said right now you’re on your death bed what is your one thing I’d answer if that room has my 7 kids, their spouses and my grandchildren all making noise while Paw Paw slips off to the next realm, I’d be good with that.

Man, I really need to be more thankful.

An older couple in our church several years ago drove up in a new corvette. They got out and the wife said it is his bucket list car. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer three months later and passed away three months after that.

I really haven't taken this advice myself, but - buy your "corvette" now. Whatever your corvette is.

I’ve always wanted one. It would kill any future savings as I could not pay cash for it. Wife wants me to get it but I just can’t justify it. Would probably only drive it less than 75 miles on weekends.

Nah. I'm still young with young kids.

I want to go on a paid elk hunting trip one day.

Most of these type things, especially the big expensive ones, are usually more fun to want and wish for than to actually own.

This reminds me of that dude with his expended spool of wire. Seemingly mundane things hit hard sometimes.

Since I was a kid and saw the movie Ive wanted a legit bullwhip like Indiana Jones. You can still buy them from the guy that made them for the original movie. They’re ostrich or something like that and hand crafted.

They’re also like $1,600.

So I still can’t have one.

I mean, I could ….but what the hell am I going to do with a 10’ long ostrich $1,600 bullwhip?

Break the sound barrier every time you popped it. That’s enough, isn’t it?

would like to hear some replies from people that have fulfilled this "I always wanted one" and what are some people's own answers to this. I guess it's a reflection day for me today.
i had very specific goals revolving around bicycle racing and almost hit them all
- ride 100 miles in under 4 hours (with fellow cyclists)
- ride 25 miles in under 1 hour (solo)
- win a race
- win money, move up to cat3
- bike 'ride to the sun' where you start with your toe in the pacific ocean then ride straight up to the top of a 11k ft volcano in hawaii <-- had the plane ticket booked but wasn't able to make it at the last minute so never got to achieve this one

i'm older now so my cycling goals are behind me but i don't have any particular 'toy' goals left; i'm pretty happy with where i am in life.

Sounds a lot more fun to start on the 11k foot volcano and end up at the ocean.

I don't care to own anything but the top remaining thing on my bucket list is to summit Kilimanjaro. My sons high school graduation will correspond with my 50th 7 years from now so hoping it will be something he's interested in and we can do it together.

do it! do it now while you are healthy. when i had to 'hang up' my extreme training and racing regimen, i said it was just for a minute while i balanced my new wife, home and kid.

so here we are now 15 years later i don't think i could get 3 miles up a hill right now in the shape i'm in.

There is not a material thing I want in this world. Now the choices are put more money into retirement or say F it and retire with less money but more time with grandkids. Getting real close to saying F it.

I always wanted a chocolate lab. One with a championship bloodline that I could train and work with. When I turned 40 I got what I wanted. 3 years later and not only is he my best friend, but he's passed 2 masters trials and has his Master Hunter certification.

Roux's a good boy.
