You know what else gets a bad reputation as far as Dogs go on the OT? I'll tell you African Wild Dogs. Sweet dogs who also love to play with children by mauling them for fun just like the Pitbull.

Since you are judging this issue in anecdotal evidence, the only people I’ve ever known to own pit bulls are poor and/or make horrible life decisions.

Yes, but that begs the question: if it's the owners, why are the vast majority of shotty pet owners going out and getting out bulls?
My next door neighbor is a good guy and a responsible dog owner. He isn't training them to be vicious and spends time with them, but I don't trust either of his dogs. They are giant piles of crap who need to be put down.

I have killed two pit bulls, in one case saving another mans life. I'm an animal lover but this attack was totally unprovoked the guy was vacuuming his car and the dog hit him from behind. By the time I got there with my gun he already had his chest ripped open and the dog was on his neck. The other was a lady walking her two small dogs and once again out of nowhere they were attacked. I beat that motherfricker to death with a big railroad spike.
Sure any dog can attack a human, Pits are just more likely to and do serious damage. People keep them in their back yard and pay no attention to them. Then one day the dog finds a loose fence board and it's on. They own the block now and anything that comes around is in danger.
So bottom line is frick YOU. You are the ignorant one
eta: I should clarify I am talking about large pits. My friend has a Staffordshire and that dog wouldn't hurt a fly.
