Ochsner had a pretty horrible payer mix
Not sure why anyone would buy it

I doubt very seriously if that were the case I could see HCA
Didn’t LCMC acquire HCA holdings in New Orleans already?

I haven't kept up with HCA recently, but you could guarantee if they bought it, it would be efficient and well ran asap. Of course, in today's market that asap might be a while. I would expect and wholehouse slaughter of middle management if a tax paying hospital purchased it.

JBE has been preparing for this move for years. It going to take place before he’s out of office.

I hope not. I hear bad things about it.

Hopefully they have a pain management doctor who can read the m.r.i. that he ordered rather than tell me over the phone that he can't read them and will have to get another dr to read it for him.

Ahhhhh healthcare. An endless demand and not a single person getting a wallet out as long as the subsidy reimburses. Crony capitalism at its best.

Depends on who actually owns it. In la. most "non-profits" are owned by the parish.

Kaiser is horrible. Better hope not.

Will they offer Small Engine repair….

Since the Slingblade joke has been done already, I’ll go a different way.
The new Louisiana division of Kaiser is not Kaiser Soze, but Kaiser Saucier.

Genuinely curious how a company buys a nonprofit like Ochsner. Who gets the money?
Politicians/lobbiest on the state board of hospital and human services, or whatever the state of LA calls that board.

Do you realize there is an entire medical specialty devoted to reading MRIs?

heard rumors that KP has come calling and Ochsner's new leadership said "we're listening". Warner's aggressive growth and spending has left them in a "interesting" financial situation. JBE is a friend of the hospital b/c (1) they are the largest private employer in the state and (2) Warner held a few nice fundraisers at his home for JBE last election cycle.

Let's hope pain management Dr isn't reading an MRI. Can't see how you would want this.

Ochsner just began a relationship with MD Anderson, I doubt Anderson would have partnered with Ochsner knowing that Kaiser was about to aquire Ochsner.

I have KP, our home office is on the west coast. if you live in an area with KP you go to all their docs and hospitals and as they also run the health insurance it’s all in network.
It’s run very similar to Ochsner except the Big O doesn’t have an insurance plan (but who remembers when they used to??)
They have a lot in common and it would probably be a fairly easy integration.
Also… remember BCBS LA is in the process of being sold to Elevance (formerly Anthem). If the Big O states running their own insurance plans like KP, it gets then away from Elevance in some capacity, and gets them more bargaining power in other capacities.
