Ochsner just began a relationship with MD Anderson, I doubt Anderson would have partnered with Ochsner knowing that Kaiser was about to aquire Ochsner.
Does MD Anderson not like KP?

Oschner took over one of the major systems in my small town. Due to their deep pockets (compared to the existing system), they kept a young, outstanding cardiologist that one year ago today literally saved my life when I had a massive heart attack.
I lived in CA in the late 70’s and KP ran that state. Folks who went to them swore by them , but they had their fingers in everything.

Not sure why KP would want to get into Louisiana. I’ve only had limited dealings with them but this just doesn’t seem like an attractive market for them (or anyone from a large healthcare perspective).

Ochsner same way. People love ‘em or hate em, no middle ground

Only one real competitor at this point. Maybe that’s attractive?

KP is one stop shopping. I don't think they'd be too keen on farming out a cash cow, like Oncology, to MDA.

Just when you thought Ochsner had hit rock bottom…

The only places hospitals make money are outpatient oncology, surgery, labwork and radiology
They arent giving one of those up

I hated KP with a passion when I was in the NE.
They pay terribly and all their doctors are foreign. Literally FOB. Probably shipped that way too.
In my opinion, KP wouldn't work down here. People like the illusion of choice even though most have little to no insurance or government pay.

I don’t think so either. Between that and the move towards contracts that have more risk sharing on the hospital side from the insurers Louisiana (and Mississippi) will become less attractive to healthcare providers due to the health of our population and may cause some to leave the state.

Labwork on paper profit only, its been seen as an expense center now for quite a while.

Can a brother put in a shout out for Kaiser Aluminum?

I had them when we lived in California and absolutely loved them.

Kaiser would be an upgrade from Ochsner. Since Ochsner bought the General Health System all they’ve done is consolidate power and suck cash ou of the system. It’s falling behind.
The only issue would be the fact that Kaiser is vertically integrated, meaning that they own the insurance side also. It’s a closed system.

rumor around is that future Gov. Landry would support a class-action antitrust lawsuit against Ochsner from the insurance companies.

Ochsner could really use a change in leadership. That place is being run into the ground.
The last year or so dealing with cancer, I find they have fallen off.
