My daughter is a full tenured professor at Kingsville Texas A&M, teaching opera. Wife assists by altering costumes and I assist by fabricating stage furniture. Last year while unloading my truck with props, dick campus cop writes me , a non campus affiliated person a ticket for violating the parking rules by 15 minutes. Easy response, I trashed the ticket.
Two months later, daughter gets a bill for my vehicle illegal parking. Forced to pay, dependent on salary distribution.
Scams are tough

Same way back in the late 90’s at La Tech.
There was a spot on the south side of the campus that was a grass area with trees. You had to have a truck to drive over the curb to park but never got a ticket we called it little Egypt.
It’s now the micro engineering and bio engineering part of the college.

Honestly, I don’t even know why we tolerate paying for parking at the school we attend and/or work for.

Right. But does no good if they are full when I go to work out. I’m also an alumni with a pretty busy schedule so his idea of running around and catching buses back-and-forth is pretty idiotic.
feel like you shouldve been able to forecast parking on a college campus being a pain in the arse. join the Y old-timer

Alumni park in Lod Cook. All of the area around the hotel is for alumni.
I use it all the time to go to the REC as alum.
No tickets and no problems.
Edit:
This lot in front of hotel. No parking pass required for alum:
Walk through hotel to the REC on the other side.

I must be a creative son of a bitch if I can just make these stories up

This reminds me of a completely unrelated story, but I knew this girl (well didn't know her personality, she was from where I was from but went to a school in another town) who was denied entrance into LSU. This was the fall of 98. For whatever reason she was in complete denial, told her parents she got accepted.
She looked at all the classes available and created her own schedule (not an official schedule, the one she would have wanted if she was enrolled). Her parents gave her money for books and she went buy the books for the classes she was going to go to. The classes she wanted to take that were lecture classes (with a lot of people in them) she went to, took notes and did this for about 5 weeks until she broke and told her parents she didn't get in.
People I knew, knew her personality and evidently she told someone she didn't get into LSU and that person told people so people who knew she didn't get had seen her on campus a few times.. or I think someone had one of the classes she was going to. That's right, that's how they knew she was going to class and taking notes, etc, but I think she ended up going to ULL the next semester. Im going to have to find out whatever happened to her. Anyway, whatever, yeah I told a worthless story.
Upvote for the quintessential oweo story

They’ve been doing this shite for over 20 years. The crowds will die down at the rec and you will find parking after the beginning of the semester infatuation wears off.
This, along with LSU parking is the biggest money making scam on the planet. And frick Riverside Towing.

When I was a freshman at west Laville, I parked on the grass every night in my truck. It was $5 a day. This was 2000. Under some funny stipulation with my free ride scholarship, it was paid off every semester, so I kept doing it.
ETA: they didn’t ticket me every day, I was sneaky and it was in front of other parked cars; so the tow truck was not accessible.

I can remember back in the 80s, watching students park behind the Union. They wouldn't see any Campus Cops around, so they'd hurry up, park in the Visitor space and run inside. Hiding behind the big oak, a lady campus cop was on her walkie talkie calling for the tow. In less than 3 minutes a tow truck appeared, backed up, hitched their car up, and off they go. That was a common occurrence. One time I saw a girl run down the tow truck at Highland Road. He kept going while she chased him Highland.
They must make a ton of cash off tickets. It's been going on at least 40 yeqrs.

Total racket like the rest of BR, it’s so obvious no one will fix it

You park on the outskirts and walk. There’s open spots in the old CEBA lot and old Alex Box lot. It’s just not convenient.
You’re a moron but this level of stupidity from you isn’t surprising.
The UREC is open to alumni and is a gym—it should have convenient parking just like any big box gym. Nobody is dealing with walking from fricking Nicholson like you suggest, 1.5 miles, to go lift

Lol. You’re entitled to parking now? Nobody is forcing you to join the rec center. You are deciding to do so. Let’s tell the lsu STUDENTS they can’t park in the lots next to the dorms anymore because alumni want to work out with college kids.

Was the same when I was at LSU in the mid-90s. I had knee surgery and my doc sent in the paperwork to get me a medical tag for a semester. When I went to pick it up, the person in the parking office informed me that there were four times the number of medical tags issued than there were designated spaces. So it wasn’t guaranteed that I’d get one on any given day.
That semester, I never actually parked in a medical space - as none were ever open within a mile of my daily classes.

LSU will NEVER miss an opportunity to frick someone. Parking hasn't changed in 30 years since I was a freshman except that there are far less spots and far more people now.
I love LSU, but also.... frick you LSU.
