Jefferson was speaking of the Federal Government, not state governments. The Founding Fathers were not alive when the 14th Amendment was ratified.

I do not want my government deciding anything about which religion to endorse in any setting. Period.

America was founded on moral, ethical principles that happened to coincide with what we perceive as Christian principles.

Many of the founders were not religious and some non-Christian but diest.

Personally I identify as Christian but I have a strong belief that my Christianity should not be rammed down your throat nor your non-belief down mine.

Furthermore the posting of the commandments simply gives someone fodder to file a fricking lawsuit that will get it overturned and cost us a shite ton of $ in senseless legal fees.

But Jeff and Liz get their 10 minutes of fame to all the dumbass gawkers who believe anything they tell them.

The founders had a reason for giving us freedom of religion and freedom from it as well.

Why would any Christian get pissed because the Word of God is displayed publicly?!

Because I don't want the government telling me or my kid what to believe about God.

Because involving government in religion inevitably tarnishes both, and leads to government sticking its nose into issues it isn't equipped to address while religion becomes hollow, lazy, and officious.

If you want your children to be Christians, that's your responsibility. Be a Christian example, take them to church, discuss religion with them, let them see you volunteering your time and money to help others, pray with them, etc.

If you want your nation to be more Christian, that's also your responsibility. Pray for the country and our leaders, share the gospel with other people, study to be knowledgeable about what you believe and why, support your church as a hospital for sinners and a training ground for saints, and make your life as a Christian something that others will find worthy of imitation.

"The experience of the United States is a happy disproof of the error so long rooted in the unenlightened minds of well-meaning Christians, as well as in the corrupt hearts of persecuting usurpers, that without a legal incorporation of religious and civil polity, neither could be supported. A mutual independence is found most friendly to practical Religion, to social harmony, and to political prosperity." - James Madison, Letter to F.L. Schaeffer, Dec 3, 1821

Newsflash, Christians believe the bible. Try again

False. The bible is filled with the church dealing with the state. You can't divorce them no matter how much you want to.

Yes, of course.

Ummm yeah. What does that have to do with some bible verses being displayed publicly?? Both are good.

Amen

I’m a Christian and the !0 commandments are great because our inability to live it perfectly is what draws everyone to Jesus, but I have to believe that this is the same precedence that will be used to jamb Sharia down all of our throats one day soon. Besides, displaying the law we cant keep is not going to make us more righteous before God

Good for LSU. Good for America. 10 commandments stand up regardless of religion or no religion. God bless LSU.

that's really what it's become right? - all sides. Triggering others and getting jabs in - that's what matters. Not getting anything real or substantive done.
