Wrong attitude man. We need more alumni/people like you sending their kids to LSU.
ETA: We need more kids like your daughter wanting to come to school here. Let her go to LSU.

College is ALL about being consistent and good study habits

While I agree that LSU can lean into attracting more talented students, your particular style and delivery of linguistics doesn’t exactly stir up confidence in the education you received at LSU…

There are plenty of mechanics and technicians that can do some of an engineer's work with the added advantage of actual in field experience.

To be embarrassed requires ownership of your current plight as well as some agency to fix it.

LSU votes to bring back Standardized testing today…
Are we talking about the ACT / SAT. Or are referring to the placement tests for remedial, etc?
Posted on 2/27/26 at 9:52 am to r0cky1
Will football players have to pass this test to get a scholarship?

All the rhetoric on this thread reeks of racist epithets. I've heard it said that racism is expensive, but love doesn't cost a thing. No wonder Louisiana is at the bottom of the barrel across the board in this country... it's one of the most racist places on earth.
GTFOH with this shite bro.

Only 13% of those applying were accepted to LSU.
Last I checked, LSU accepts like 75-80% of applicants. What you are talking about is yield -- how many who get accepted actually enroll.

They may not "require" the ACT, but you'd better have an outstanding GPA to be admitted without it
GPAs are a joke these days. You have kids with perfect grades who couldn't score a 20 on the ACT.

Was the ACT no longer required for admission to LSU?

Sending one good student into a sea of mediocrity is more likely to negatively impact the good student than it is to lessen the mediocrity.

They got rid of standardized tests? What rock have I been under?
Make LSU great again.
Make LSU great again.

There is a little bit of misleading here.
You need generally a 3.0 gpa to get in but grade inflation…
The real issue is they are admitting 74%. Too high for a flagship. But with cuts in state funding they are trying to get as much tuition $$$ as they can.

A lot of universities made standardized tests optional for admission. Even having a score increases scholarship opportunities, but many students don't bother.
For fall 2024 the enrolled freshman class had only 47% who submitted scores. For in state students who have to submit scores for the state tuition program LSU still lets them avoid submitting for admissions, honors program, and for consideration for LSU sponsored or controlled scholarships/grants if they don’t want to submit scores for those. LSU also pushes out the lowest score that is likely to help in admissions and scholarships which basically lets the ones with lower scores know not to submit the scores with applications.
What is not clear to me is the exact calculations used to compare applicants who submit a score against those who don’t submit a score.

The term “institutional racism” was created to solve this cognitive dissonance. All people need is a way to square a circle in their mind. Once that is done, once that excuse is internalized, logic and reason can be dismissed.

Nope, and they were letting in a bad element. Everyone saw it around, and some of us didn't want our kids going there as a result.
They reversed course today, great news for LSU alums and future students.
