Wow.
Sad.

OBITUARY: Lindsey Mae Swan, affectionately known to her loved ones as "Sweet Pea or Stitch," passed away on February 17, 2026, in her hometown of Huntsville, Alabama. Born on July 23, 2013, she was twelve years old. A vibrant spirit, Lindsey leaves behind a legacy of love, talent, and a profound message for her community. Lindsey was a remarkable young girl who engaged with the world with enthusiasm and intelligence. A student at Mountain Gap Middle School, she was a dedicated member of the choir and a bright academic mind, evidenced by her invitation to join the Girls Engaged in Math and Science (GEMS) Team. As a member of the Around The Curtain children's theater, she was diligently rehearsing for her role as a lioness in the upcoming production of *The Lion King*. Her energy extended to athletics as well, where she enjoyed playing volleyball, gymnastics, and dancing. Beyond her activities, Lindsey is remembered for her character. She possessed a heart that was incredibly big, and she loved hard. She had a great sense of humor, a contagious laugh, and a mischievous twinkle in her eye when she was planning her next adventure. She found joy in the simple beauties of life, such as sunsets, stars, and the outdoors. She loved hiking, spending time at the beach, riding her scooter, gaming, and caring for animals. Lindsey is survived by her loving mother, Brittany Booth and stepfather, Jason Booth; her sister, Lydia Laughery; and her brother, Parker Swan. She is also mourned by her grandparents, Kathy Eason and Kevin Blenman, Nick and Shellie Kioutas, and Ridge and Bebe Shariett. She leaves behind her aunts and uncles, Taylor Laughery and Matt Shamblin, Rhonda and Troy Moore, Allina Hannig, Cassandra Kioutas, Matt Sizemore, Nicko Kioutas, Jennifer and Wayne Lang, Ronnie and Beth Bunner, Steve Bunner; as well as her cousins, Aiden and Avery Brown, Alex Shaw, and Dixie Shamblin, Quinn Moore, Sydney and Payton Bunner, Veronica, Bryce and Aislynn Bunner. As well as other extended family. She was loved by so many family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving father, Joseph Laughery, and her grandparents, Ronald and Mary Bunner. While we mourn the loss of such a beautiful soul, the family wishes to share a vital message based on Lindsey’s final journal entry. She wrote, "it’s too late for me... Please talk to someone even if they look and act OK... They might make it because of you." There were signs, and there were moments where she expressed her struggle, yet silence prevailed. This tribute is not about blame; rather, it is about awareness and protecting the next child. If you hear a friend talking about hurting themselves, "self-canceling," or not wanting to be here anymore, please understand that this is not gossip, nor is it drama. It is a red flag, and it is a life on the line. If you see something, say something. Tell a parent, a teacher, a coach, or a counselor. You might worry about losing a friendship, but you will never regret saving a life. Silence can cost someone everything. We must remove the shame associated with suicide so that families can grieve out loud openly. A funeral service will be held at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home & Crematory,16 Hughes Rd, Madison, AL 35758, on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home & Crematory where friends are encouraged to stay and share stories. A private burial will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens, pallbearers will Matt Shamblin, Aiden Brown, Kevin Blenman, Mitchell Morrison, Matt Sizemore, and Nicko Kioutas. May her spirit find eternal peace, and may her story save a life.
Sad.

My guess is that certain words gets the post flagged and possibly taken down. That's why they use dumb things like "un-alived" instead of "killed" or "murdered."
I was suspended from X for saying “bleach.”

That is so sad.
I would be destroyed if one of my kids did that

Absolutely heartbreaking. She seemed to be a well rounded 12 yr. old.
You just never know what is going on in their young minds.
It stated in her obit. that her father had passed away. He passed in 2022 from an overdose. So tragic.

how long it took him to feel like remotely himself again. This sucks for him.
So heartbreaking. I can’t imagine how painful this is for him. I’m a huge fan of Martin Short, especially when he and Steve Martin are together. They’re just brilliant performers. I hope he’s able to make it through this devastating experience.

Normal people can't fathom clinical depression. It's a serious thing effecting very, very many. Some realize it, some don't, some are in denial.
I don't care who you are but Jesus took whatever you are going through and nailed it to a cross. He wants you to give it to him.

It struck me as frenetic. My late SO (not a suicide) suffered from lifelong depression. She knew from about age ten that she always had to be doing something to keep her mind off "the black dog" as she called it.

I went to Facebook jail once for asking a friend with the same last name as me if I could kidnap her and take her on my cruise, as it was departing from the city where she lives.
And there were other stupidities.
Social media has gotten retarded.

Sad. As I stated in another post, 2026 is not being kind to Hollywood.

Wow, never thought about that.
Poor baby was so involved in so many activities in school and outside of school.

A niece on my wife’s side of the family earned a master’s degree in social work from Tennessee. Got a job in Austin Texas. Lasted less than two years and is now a barista in Idaho

Wow. So sad. I always hate hearing this. Our kids have so many mental issues these days. Mental illness is a tough one to deal with and a lifelong struggle for everyone involved.

Any job that has you primarily dealing with people on their worst days is incredibly difficult to do. The mental and physical toll of maintaining empathy is only outweighed by the toll taken when you can’t maintain it.

And Tommy Lee Jones daughter died of a cocaine overdose. Lots of pressure living in Hollywood and the son or daughter of a celebrity I guess.
