merv capable, that could spiral the numbers by a significant factor. 500 becomes 3000 if not intercepted before merv detachments.
And how many of those Mirvs are dummies meant to waste our interceptors. We may be able to stop a handful if say N Korea lobbed a few our way...but an all out attack by China or Russia.....we are for the most part toast.

I imagine there is some form of intercontinental missles detection
US has had ICBM early warning sine the early 60’s. The shortest route for Russian ICBM’s is across the North Pole. Canada was a big part of the early systems. The older system was replaced in 2001 with a solid state phase array radar system. We also use satellites as well.
US can detect a launch before the Russian misses leave their silos. Shooting them down is another story.

Yes, it's been around since the 1980s

Since Israel's """Iron Dome""" is basically a US Patriot missile defense system, it's a fair guess we have something similar
Incorrect. While Israel does utilize Patriot batteries in their integrated BMD system (along with their own Arrow missiles which are similar to the Patriot), Irone Dome is separate system using a different, and much smaller missile for interception.
Source: The IDF base I was on where I got to see Iron Dome up close.

We struggled with China balloons.

The US has 5x the amount of military capability than we actually advertise. I’m sure our technology is better than Israel’s at this point, even if Israel’s is world class

Besides different missiles, different technology, and different applications the two systems are the same.
Part of the beauty of the Iron Dome system is the smaller cheaper operations.

We do not, however, have any way to intercept them, and that's assuming there's only 1 warhead per missile (which there is not).

lol Raytheon (American company) delivered the iron dome to Israel bro.

Don't worry Joe and Kamala got us

Probably a dumb question, but does the US have a missile defense system comparable to Israel’s set up to intercept anything lobbed our way?
No
We gave ours to Israel

ChiComs launched 500 nukes at the continental US, how many would we intercept?
Intercepting multiple warheads is essentially impossible. If a large missile strike was launched we would maybe get a handful.

It's called mutually assured destruction

I remember the one Prz Reagan had thought up that bluffed the Ruskies.
Naturally, scum bag left made fun of him. Had it been Klinton in office they would’ve celebrated the idea.
Probably could be done today.

Let's try this a different way.
15yrs before the "Iron Dome" was deployed, the US defended Israel against Saddam with the Patriot missile system. Israelis were impressed and grateful.
But the patriots were expensive and designed as intermediate/long range deterrents. So Israel spent the next decade and a half designing a cheaper patriot system for use against shorter range missile systems like those used in the ME.
Our systems are 15-20 yrs more advanced than Israel's.

Yeah, that's what I seem to notice about U.S. military capability...whatever they are letting the public know about it's usually ten year old technology.
Yeah, I just don't buy it. I believe there are lots of things being researched thay no one knows about, but everything we have that is actually deployable is in the public sphere.
This is like LSU Football's "secret playbook" that we just hold back... all season. It doesn't exist.

Yeah it protects about .05 % of the population

Probably not. The US is huge and would be very difficult to defend in that way.

Where do you think they came from?

Iron dome was Rafael and IAI. There are plenty of joint ventures between IAI and US manufacturers. Davids sling, Arrow, etc all have varying degrees of inter country partnerships.
