In practice what will happen is when the cops don't want you filming their negligence, they'll just claim they asked you to back up (no matter how close you are) and that you violated this law.

Or they'll just fricking arrest people and say they were within 25 ft. as the cause.

It's a garbage law that will be abused on Day 1.

Everyone bitching about the ability to film, nothing in the law says you can't film, but the media has made that the talking point, so that's what you're sticking with.

Look at this clown. No one has really said shite about filming being the issue. The main issue pointed out in this thread is the room for abuse that this opens up.
Congrats on being a yuppy lapping up that media talking point and doing exactly what they want you to do, spewing that misinformation provided by the media.

I'm glad we're back to corrupt Republicans running the state into the ground. Good ole days.

More gov't obfuscation by the Landry Admin... color me surprised.

Laws stating arbitrary distances have been overturned time and time again.
Expect more taxes being spent trying to defend this one too.

a case were the government functions for the people by the people

a bunch of cops and lawyers write a terrible bill

ALCU sues cause the law is likely unconstitutional

a bunch of cops get to scream Blue Lives Matter and what not

a bunch of lawyers gets to collect taxpayers money to fight to uphold the law

what are you people complaining about?

Not sure this is needed as long as the cops who tazed and beat the frick out of the girl who hit them at Liberty Lagoon are fine.

Interfering with an arrest and assault and battery on a cop are gonna give you a bad time.

What about in vehicles? This gives them free reign to pull over anyone without any probable cause. It's basically a free ability to stop and frisk anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Edit to add: Even if you are innocent, they still can put you in jail just because you got too close.

just curious is there any law in place now that defines an acceptable limit of space or is it currently unrestricted?

25 feet seems way excessive and who is making that judgment call in the middle of "official duties". they going break a measuring tape out? Obviously being put in place to protect dipshit cops who do dipshit things.

Look bootlicker, no one gives a shite about that. But for argument’s sake, how well does your phone camera pick up audio at 25ft? Does your phone also have x-ray vision like Superman? So many things that you can easily miss that a POS cop will take full advantage of because 1) they’re a POS and 2) they don’t know the laws they are supposed to follow.

Hell this means in some cases you aren't even allowed to be in the same room as a police officer conducting "official duty." What could go wrong!

Guy I'm not defending the law, I've clearly stated its stupid and ripe for abuse.

Exactly. No longer need a warrant for anything. Just have to make sure you cross paths with them and you're fair game.

Cop sees you looking thru your apartment window at something going on in the parking lot 10 feet away, are you in violation?
