Annunciation isn't too far away and is really good for dinner.
Since you are so close, highly recommend Annunciation. Food and atmosphere are excellent.
ETA my wife (no pics) raved about the steak she got there recently.

I would take this to the Food and Drink board where you will get much better recs than this shitshow.
1) Don't go to a steakhouse, lame. IF you insist on going to one I would go to Doris Metropolitan. But yeah, NOLA has much more interesting places than a steakhouse.
2) Define "casual restaurant". That can really run the gamut. Peche is "casual" and an elite restaurant to me.
3) Lunch spots: What are you looking for?

you're gonna risk your life to go with familiar food? tha frick? I swear. Some of y'all should just never leave your house.
People structure their lives based on what they see on the news channels which is all bad. I visited friends in NOLA yesterday, things are no better or worse than any larger city. . If you are in a city of say 1 million people and it has 300 homicides in a year vs a similar city that only had 50 your odds of being murdered are not statistically different.

Uber is no longer safe either with reports of fake Uber drivers robbing people they pick up

Go ahead and make reservations at the hospital close to where you are going to stay.
Posted on 2/14/22 at 11:00 am to diamond hog 12
1. The Pothole Inn
2. The Carjacked Grill
3. Pumps Two-through-Six Down
4. Indictment
5. The Kevlar Kangaroo.
All are great for lunch or dinner.

And this is example #1 of why you should never ask for suggestions regarding Nola from the OT

I like Charlie's because not only their steaks good, but I like all the old Tulane/LSU photos. It's also just a good example of an old school neighborhood New Orleans restaurant. It's not all about the food, it's also about atmosphere. I miss the bar at the old Ye Olde College Inn for that reason. And 3 in the afternoon was the best time to get an oyster loaf because the bread was PERFECT at that time of day. Any earlier it was too soft, and any later it was too hard.

Meh, I don't really eat in the French Quarter. Maybe a muff sandwich from Central, or some beignets at CDM.

1) Charlie's Steakhouse uptown
2) Joey K's on Magazine st
3) Lunch spots all over the damn place. Avoid touristy places in the quarter.

I second this.
I used to be a HIGE Charlie’s fan but the food is just not as good as it used to be once they expanded the menu. When it was just steak, 1/4 head of lettuce salad, onion rings, and potatoes AU gratin, they had that shite down to a science.
