Couldn’t they come up with some shorter names. FFS those are some wordy streets.

Put the political correctness issue, which is MAJOR!, aside for a moment.

These new names are ridiculously long! frick that!

Secondly, I don’t approve of using the names of living people. Judge Lemelle is a decent person, albeit he has made tremendous strides with being the least black-skinned black man in New Orleans, even fairer that Dutch Morial who passed for Italian back in the day, but the man is still alive and well and beating that race-baiting drum loud and clear.

Thirdly, aren’t feminists and those with physical handicaps going to stand up for Sophie B. Wright? Seriously?!! Her name is being removed?

They couldn’t have thought of a better name for Lee Circle than Leah Chase Circle? The cook from Dookie Chase’s? I mean she was a sweet old woman but why not put a civic leader at least.

I don’t know if Leah Chase Circle is my favorite either, but to act as though she was not a civic leader in the New Orleans community is being obtuse.

How about we dont name streets after people?? Everyone has skeletons in their closet. Think of how much money this will cost

They should not just rename them after people. All of these people have skeletons in their closets too, everyone does. Naming streets after people, regardless of who, in a modern PC world is a bad idea.

Seems like a pain in the arse for all of the people who live on those streets to have to formally change their contact information for everything.

Excellent point and one that people in the city should be making with their council reps. Instead, I think there is a passive mindset that is about to get steamrolled without any respectful consideration

Are they going to change Tulane University to "Tootie" University too?

Tulane family donated to the Confederate cause during the Civil War. You know a name change is looming.

It is interesting only white peoples skeletons matter

There are thousands of streets and statues of MLK, and his list of skeletons run deep

Let's name a street with 5-6 words!!!

I wonder who's going to get all of these contracts changing thousands of signs.

Excellent point!

Every human on that list has a flaw. Why is one more deserving than the other?

Cabbies already have a shite time trying to find streets. This isn’t going to make it any better. How long before google and Apple update their apps?

Mama D? Really?

Why do most of these have to have first and last names? Too cumbersome.
