They could have done away with the dude and have the hurricane logo with the P in the eye of the storm. But other than that its pretty good.

I can’t wait for the redistricting fight next year. The natives are restless and I’m here for it with popcorn.

Not a fan of either, or the name, or the colors.

The colors immediately make me think of the original USFL San Antonio Gunslingers.

God that's so lame and really in poor taste. "Hey, what's something that personally devastates our region and kills people every few years!? Let's name the sports team after that." Are schools in the Midwest named the Tornados? Should have been the Prairieville Killdozers

Is this your speculation?

No. I saw this on someone's FB page who def wants their kid going to St Amant by any means necessary.

Allegedly there were some slides of the proposed redistricting shown at a recent meeting but aren't up yet for viewing.

Coming from the west bank side of the parish, it really is a bit perplexing to watch grown adults remain fervently attached to their high schools.

The primary logo is not bad for what it is. It’s distinct for the area. Not sure I would have gone with the anthropomorphic Poseidon reference in the other logo. Why not just the trident?

I don’t like the mascot choice, though. I think it’s tone-deaf, especially considering the last few years here in South Louisiana. Now, some of you will say “so what?” But when you have an infinite number of mascots to choose from for your children’s public school that don’t remind you or glorify a natural disaster that destroyed the homes of your neighbors… maybe you can try something else? Was Hurricanes REALLY the best choice?

In Ascension Parish - to help provide relief to the largest high school in the state (enrollment wise) Dutchtown High - yes, a new high school is desperately needed

Supposedly the decision was based on public voting. If I recall correctly the final two choices came down to the Patriots or the Hurricanes.

Edith Walker is by far the absolute best person for that job. Id have to question the motive behind anyone complaining about her getting the job. She’s a rockstar and 100% deserves that position.
