Back to KIA/Hyundai.

They never completely left, tbh.

That is what they get for that shitty CVT that they put in almost everything. CVT's themselves aren't necessarily bad, but theirs seems to be the worst plus they put it in vehicles that are not best for it.

Well, when your commercials target a certain demographic, as well as your financial under-pinning, this is what happens. White people buy Toyotas.

What you are saying is “Nissan is jap for “Curtule”

What really confuses me is everyone is going to small turbo engines. Nissan/Datsun have been doing turbo cars for a LONG time. They should have no issues entering that market.

One of their strengths is they don't change their engines much. The VQ engine in the frontier has been around for how long now?

I think they have too many offerings and some are propping up the shitty ones.

They clearly focused on the wrong things. They took what worked and customers wanted and forced shitty CVTs on everyone.

The biggest blame is the EPA and their stupid efficiency standards that killed off successful vehicles and forced these stupid things like CVTs. We'll all soon be driving go carts since folks will wise up on electric cars and their downfalls.

If it weren't for Uchida at the helm I might agree. He did a very Japanese thing and took a 50% pay cut as CEO. They have a 1.5 billion dollar stake in Mitsubishi and plan to sell off a third of it to help weather the storm. They are also planning to cut Frontier and Rouge production both of which they have too much inventory.

They are still suffering from the tenure of Carlos Ghosn but I think they can make it out of the tunnel if they really want to and I think Uchida does. Eastern CEOs don't tend to fail upward and don't float down softly on golden parachutes.

We had a 17’ Rogue and just like every other 17 Rogue (CVT tranny) it totally crappedvthe bed at 105k miles. Those tranny’s are disposable, they should stamp an expiration date in the casting bc that’s about all you’ll get out of it.

I guess I don’t watch enough TV to notice this. What demographic do you feel they are targeting?

IDK but you know it’s bad if they are talking about canceling the Altima.

Perhaps they should not have phone in their SUV’s, canceled their full sized truck line, or relied so much on unreliable CVTs.

Worried about what this means for Canton, MS.

Everytime I get a rental car and it’s a Nissan, I usually walk away thinking that it was a great car.

Here is an idea. Bring back the Datsun 280ZX Turbo two seater T-top. Car was an absolute road bullet and cockpit fit you like a glove.

I could be doing 75 and mash the gas pedal and that turbo boost would lift the front end when it hit.
