So because of this one example we should group all teachers together? How stupid.
This is not my kids schedule. Our teachers are doing live lessons, Q&A sessions, worksheets etc....

A lot of Teachers attitudes about all this is downright disgusting. No respect for them
Agreed, and I’m trying to take the mindset that it’s not all teachers and some want to go back to school but I don’t really seem to be hearing much out of them though. Lord knows we hear it from them "I’m scared it’s too early" crowd though. As a result I find myself feeling as if I’ve lost a lot of respect for the profession.

That’s ridiculous. I will be live teaching in person and virtually simultaneously all day.
I was going to say, what a shitty school and shitty teacher. Hope they're not paying tuition for that.
Our teachers are going to have 45 minute synchronous sessions for their respective classes and then "office hours" directly after to address any questions/concerns one on one. They can teach up to 90 minutes depending on the situation. Some are putting together kits for classes (like food science, chem, art, etc.) to be picked up with their textbooks next week and every couple of weeks there after. While it won't be a full 6 hours of straight up lecture each day (they don't want kids sitting in front of screen for that long for straight lectures) there's content provided outside of that for projects, homework, etc. Everything will be recorded so students who can't attend live will be able to access.

Send your kid to a private school and quit your bitching.

Agreed we should cut salaries of everyone working from home and raise those salaries of the essential worker
Also essential workers should get “alcohol stamps” which are food stamps that you buy alcohol with. Drinking and driving should also be legalized for essentials. Also non essential men should be required to get face tattoos declaring them as such so more useful members of society know to avoid them

This is what happens when you spend 50 years telling an entire group of people that they're special.

Yeah our kids are going to continue to be dumb little shits. There are communities education isnt valued. The parents won't do a damn thing.

Two neighborhood 10th grade boys, both are doing odd jobs and mowing lawns this summer.
One is sorely disappointed that no in the classroom classes.
The other, I'm doing zoom class in my bed until lunch

The media isn’t going to highlight teachers that speak out against the Union narrative

What exactly do you expect virtual learning to look like for a 1st grader?

That's it. We're paying our city teachers to print off worksheets, have a 10 minute roll call, and look at pictures on kid-facebook.
You are leaving out the hundreds of hours it takes for that teacher to come up with that plan. She also has to decorate her house at her own expense and stay up till midnight looking at those pages the kids send in.

I think that’s kind of the point.

Yep some stupid post going around fb where they talk about letting the pilot fly the plane, a mechanic work on your car and something else so let them decide if they can teach or not bc they’re experts.
No one is telling you how to teach, but it’s a medical issue doctors need to advise on. Also all the other fricking people are back and work and don’t get paid if they don’t work like you want to

Who are we to argue if the mechanics decide to charge the same amount of money for a 20 minute Zoom lesson on alternator replacement?? It’s a pandemic!

Right or still pay them and they can send you a pdf about how to do the work yourself

Your school sucks then. My wife is teaching virtually and she is teaching from 8:30 in the morning up until lunch and then from lunch on to 4:00. Mixture of live videos, recorded videos for kids who don't log in, and student work time where she is available to answer questions.

In some ways it follows what has been going on in the classrooms for decades
‘Teachers’ have been relegated to baby sitters. They haven’t actually been teaching anything . They frankly don’t know how. Teaching is an art.
Add to that the built in security of the job and the teachers don’t feel like they need to do more than the bare minimum- babysit.
So this online stuff is just revealing what has been going on for decades. Now parents can see what lazy piles of crap these teachers and administrators are first hand.
Just like Katrina uncovered all kinds of corruption in new orleans, corona gonna uncover the fraud that is our public school system
