I know! Other than practically having dress in a suit and tie just to go to the post office, I’d love to go back in time and experience that kind of lifestyle. I’d love to experience the 50s though personally

Wow. Looks like a hostess inspection from the series “ Ascension.”

All decades have their issues. A picture of a bunch of beautiful women is not reality. Everyone of those women probably sewed their dress. Were harassed constantly by hard legs. That was reality. Piggly Wiggly wasn’t glamorous. Don’t be fooled by an ad.
My Bad, this is obviously much better

I did it for you. Good times.
Collect soft drink bottles to make money. Walk barefoot in the creek to retrieve lost golf balls. Drag your push mower down the street and mow random yards for $10. Dad got stamps at the gas station, and used it to get our baseball gloves. I think gas was $0.19 a gallon. Bottle of pop was 5 cents.
Geaux to Tigers Stadium in 1958 to watch the Chinese Bandits and Billy Cannon. Got spoiled.
ETA We beat Clemson 7 - 0 in the Sugar Bowl to win the NC.

Naw, they were probably earning around $3 per hour.
The sackers at Weingartens had to wear a bow tie, apron, and name tag. We could accept tips. Brookshires couldn't, but they got paid more. Brookshires was closed on Sundays also and didn't sell alcohol.

Actually a lot of men did at least wear a white shirt and maybe even a tie once their work day was over.
I clearly remember my old favorite great uncle "Pop" that would hunt or fish six days a week, would come home take a bath, then a nap and would come to the house to drink coffee with my dad when he got home from work and Pop would have on a white shirt and tie, and of course his fedora.

Imagine living in a time where that lineup of women was the norm. What a time to be alive. Beautiful, thin, feminine women. A booming economy. Classic cars. Affordable homes. Hard to believe it was ever real.
And no nasty arse, skanky, trashy tattoos

The cashiers at the Piggly Wiggly nearest me still stand like that at their registers. They don’t dress like that but the system is the same. They always ask if you’re ready to check out. More expensive than the big stores but clean, orderly, stocked and well-run. Same family has owned it for over 50 years.

All of the men in my grandparent’s generation wore hats. That was going out of style in the 70’s.

This. We don’t really realize how bad it’s gotten because it’s been a slow decline and we grow accustomed to it.
The nicest grocery or retail stores and its employees/customers don’t look like that today, much less a fricking piggly wiggly.

Oh, I believe you’ve misunderstood. I never said now is better. It’s certainly not. But, it also wasn’t all roses in 1962 as is being painted in this thread. Keep in mind this thread is about a 1962 photo. Young bucks were being shipped off to die.

We had a Pig where I grew up. They didn't dress nor look like that when I was a kid.

That many lanes open? NO SHOT! I just left Publix and at 5:30 they had 2/9 lanes open and one as manned by the special needs guy.
