Honestly, this:
quote:is enough for this sub-part of the question. No owner under these facts has any obligation for maintenance.
I have not control of the car and she lives in another city and has her own insurance.

I still disagree. Tell me, does an out of State co-owner (assuming her name is on the title as well) of property have any liability for hazards on that property even though they never go there or use the property?

You could be sued for negligent entrustment. The plaintiff will attempt to prove you had knowledge that your daughter was not a good driver, but you still allowed her to use the car or facilitated her access to the car by co-signing the loan.

And in any event, anyone with any assets should have an umbrella policy.

So you are saying if the car is registered to him, is involved in a hit and run, the cops aren't going to show up at his house ?
Love how confidently wrong the non-attorney is

The answer is we need pics of your daughter to better understand the situation

I am not your lawyer.
And I don't know. So there's that.

If you come to the OT for legal advice what do you expect

You should be concerned about being named “additional insured” on daughters auto policy.
Umbrella isn’t going to help with an auto OP doesn’t insure and they aren’t that cheap anymore.

In Florida, absolutely.
In Louisiana, maybe.

there are actually some really smart people on here who are experts in their field, but there is so much BS and sarcasm subterfuge that it's difficult to weed them out
