What do the majority of people in large companies do? Obviously you have the managers, accountants, HR people, IT people, salesman, but what do all of the other people do?

You mean the primary/most important people that actually work on whatever product/service the company does? Those people? The list of people you mentioned are essentially support personnel to make sure the actual people doing the work that is the focus of the company, can do their job.

What a silly question

Maybe I didn't ask the question correctly.

I was wondering what type of employee makes up the majority of most companies. I know lots of people who work for different corporations, but none of them (to my knowledge) have any special degree other than a general business degree.

I manage R&D projects. I have an office in an office building.

I'm rarely there though because I'm usually in and out of meetings all day. I generally have a lot of independence though. For instance, I'm sitting in my bed right now watching Planet Earth II on my new TV.

Most people just stare at people's feet all day and dream of becoming a podiatrist instead

Depends on the company. My company has a lot of engineers who do necessary stuff.

Companies with big HR departments have a lot of dead weight. Because HR is a bloated, worthless waste of time.

Is that company an oil company, an investment bank, or do they produce widgets? Your question is just as dumb as the original because companies do a vast amount of things.

All companies have the exact same set of employees no matter that the underlying business does, so this is a great question with an easy answer

If Hermey can dream of being a dentist, I'm sure there's an elf somewhere who wants to be a podiatrist.

I talk to the God dammed customers so the engineers don't have to.

Well, you could tell me what it's like at YOUR company and we could all learn something instead.

It depends on how old they are, over 50's spend most of the day in the restroom and coffee room.

Under 30's spend most of the day playing on social media
