Monkey fans booed Jimi Hendrix offstage at one of their combined concerts. Jimi was the opening act
quote:
Jimi Hendrix managed to get through a total of only seven dates with the Monkees, culminating in his final show on July 17, 1967, which may or may not have ended with Hendrix saluting the crowd with his middle finger.

was also one of the pioneers of music videos that led to MTV

That leaves only Mickey Dolenz left. I loved the Monkees when I was a kid.

quote:Actually all four Monkees were musicians
Nesmith was the only actual musician of the four
quote:Also Mickey Dolenz had been a guitarist in a garage band, and Davy Jones played drums. He was intended to be the drummer in The Monkees, until the producers realized at his diminutive height he would be hidden behind the drum set, and they wanted him out front and visible to all the teenyboppers.
"Peter Tork was accomplished on guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, banjo and other instruments"
So at the production meeting to find the new drummer it became a staring contest between the other three, until finally Dolenz gave in and took one for the team.

Bye, Bye, Bye
Nez was the man- he had so much influence on everything we listen to these days- well not everything, but a lot. And he made what could be considered the first modern music video?
Rio
Oh, and here's a Liquid paper skit...
from Elephant Parts
He deserves more respect, and was a damn funny guy.

Coincidentally Maureen McCormick posted on IG that today is the 50th anniversary of the Davy Jones Brady Bunch episode.

This is a true story.
Engelbert Humperdinck opened for Jimi in the 60's along with pink floyd, also I think pf opened for JImi in 1969.

Saw the Monkees at Hirsh Coliseum in Shreveport in 1967 when I was 12 years old. It was my second concert. Saw Paul Revere and the Raiders 3 months earlier. I'm old.

Also wrote the first hit for Linda Ronstadt.
