Per the Rule 6-1a, a home run becomes a dead ball where runners can advance. A substitution can be made any time during a dead ball. The substitute can then finish out the home run trot for the injured player, per Rule 5-5c. The player who hit the home run does not need to be the one to touch all four bases.

Thus, once Justin Ford was helped off of the field, Seton Hall subbed him out of the game. The sub was then allowed to touch second base, third base and home plate on Ford’s behalf to score the run.

who was the LSU/Bears player who broke his legs on astroturf

how much money did that cost him

Wendell Davis, tore up both knees on the old Veterans Stadium in Philly. Widely considered the worst field in the NFL. I think he took them to court, not sure what the outcome was.

A little more on Wendell

I’ve seen every LSU wide receiver since the 70s. For my money, Wendell Davis was the greatest of all of them. He almost made Tommy Hodson a first round draft pick. After he left, Hudson became a third round draft pick.

The NFL should’ve outlawed that Philadelphia field years earlier. It was a complete fricking mess. I remember one NFL coach called off a preseason game because the field was so fricked up that he didn’t want his players getting hurt.

I remember reading a few years back that Wendell Davis sued the Philadelphia Eagles, Veterans Stadium, and the NFL because of that field. According to the article I read, he reached a rather large out of court settlement which required him to sign a NDA.

If this is where your mind immediately went, then you are a degerate.

I say this affectionately. I grew up around nothing but gambling degerates and know the breed.

This would be the definition of a Bad Beat.
