From a local storm chaser earlier. That might be the biggest I’ve seen!

Hope any of yall aren’t flying American thru DFW for the next few days.
Assholes managed to F up our trip to Cancun from BTR. Cancelled both legs of outbound through DFW. Ended up getting on United next day out of Lafayette via Houston. That was 5/23. Then, when we were scheduled to return (5/30), they cancelled both flights through DFW again. Finally flew us to Miami late 5/31 and offered standby for a June 2 return to MSY. Finally said frick it, rented a car, and drove back to BR overnight. Made it back midday yesterday and just got back from picking up the car from Lafayette.

I know it's weather and somewhat out of their control, but they failed miserably with any kind of contingency planning. Final straw was when they boarded us on a plane in MIA, bound for MSY. After waiting on the tarmac for an hour, the pilot came on and said the flight crew's shift was expired and AA would have to get another crew. They de-planed us and gate agent confirmed they did not have a flight crew which would be available before the following day.

TL;DR: frick those assholes at AA.

Unrelated to any of that: During my trips today through Henderson to/from Lafayette, just about everything around I-10 was flooded. The Interstate off-ramps were flooded, and it looked like the highway was flooded beneath the Interstate overpass. Gas stations on both side were completely flooded.

County auto-call

What’s this?

Probably the same phone calls we get since we are both out in the boondocks and the nearest town doesn't have a siren.

Both land lines and cell phones get it, automated, what's coming and approx. when.
Ironically it then tells us to consult local media. (?the weekly newspaper)

Last night in Youngsville we got an absolute monster of a supercell out of nowhere. Somebody got a photo in the lightning of a massive wet downburst. Piles of Sonic ice hail. Winds easily hit 90mph.
The storms lately got me traumatized for hurricane season.

What’s this?

Robo calls from the county telling us bad weather is coming. (Sometimes I get as many as 20 messages from the county (text, email, voice mail and Ring - not actually the county).

I’ve been really impressed with our home alarm system going off for severe weather warnings.
