That would be a political nightmare. You think that student loan debt is a problem now? That would literally open up Pandora's box.

I'm speaking strictly from a military standpoint. UCMJ does prevent minors from consuming alcohol for the most part because the use of a breathalyzer is so common.

If they want to drink at 18, they should not have driving privileges.

Absolutely not. We would have DWIs constantly.
That doesn't change a thing... DWIs constantly happen now.
To give you some insight, in 2016, drivers between ages 25-44 accounted for 55% of the DWI/DUI across the country. Ages 16-20 accounted for 14%.

There should be no drinking age

18 year olds already drink, so the legal age being 21 isn't stopping them. If we can deploy an 18 year old to a war zone to possibly die for the country, they should be able to legally have a few beers

Haven't decided.
Are we ok with sending not adults to adult prison, or allowing not adults to make very adult decisions in the battlefield?

Of course. If you can fight and die and vote and be charged as an adult, you can drink like one.

It doesn't happen to 18 years olds on military bases.
I would bet my left testicle that DWI rates would skyrocket if everyone in the military could legally drink on or around base.

I just said I haven't decided about that. It's not something I've deeply thought about for any serious length of time.

The ages for voting, drinking and draft should be 21. The age of 18 was used before there were Millenials. I don't want this group doing anything responsible. They have shown that they are not capable.

Can we see that for Gulf Coast? We are alot worse down here.

Yes. If you can go on trial as an adult, you should be able to drink like one. There really should be an age limit where you are officially an adult and you can do everything adults do.

Your prefrontal cortex isn't fully developed until you're 25. That's really when you should be able to vote/drink/join the military. It will never happen though.

Does anybody know if alcohol-related incidents and deaths changed in Louisiana when the drinking age was raised from 18 to 21?

Seriously, about 22-25 is when most males learn to not make really reckless decisions when drunk. Like driving hammered or fighting at bars. There's truth to this.

Armed forces, yes. Average Joe, no.
I served, so I think the possibility of dying in combat should allow the opportunity to indulge. I also remember drinking in high school and how many bad decisions were made as a result
