Visited St.Maarten island recently and asked if they had any venomous snakes. They replied they have no snakes after they brought mongoose to the island. Not sure what the mongoose are eating now but we did see one in the wild. Wonder how mongoose would do in Florida?

I don't think this is going to do a damn thing to help with pythons.
I had a huge 4 foot speckled king when I was a kid and I fed it a pigmy rattler. After eating the rattler it didn't eat anything else for a year. Their metabolism is slow as hell.

We don’t want them eating king snakes and rat snakes
And this is where it will go wrong. If they are not sterile, and breed. They will encroach on other states
Can't expect Florida to think things through though

The OP is confusing. Video is about native eastern indigo snakes being released in North Florida to try and reestablish their population.

So, non-native snakes are out of control so we are releasing other non-native snakes to control them? I get the feeling that we are kinda outthinking things!

Wrong. They will eat all of the snakes good and bad. Then they will turn on each other until only 1 is left.
Then scientist will place a few mirrors in the everglades.... booom!!
You just don't understand science and shite.

They are helping to restore a native, now endangered, species that should help balance things. Eastern Indigo snakes are not venomous and pose no threat to humans.

Sounds like a speckled kingsnake. I wonder who would eat who when they come into contact?

Florida is a real life version of The Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly. Perhaps it will die.

Speaking of Samuel L Jackson, I heard he's a big proponent of this plan
He was quoted as saying "I am sick and tired of these motherfricking snakes, in this motherfricking state!"

There is a South American snake that eats other snakes almost exclusively.
Mussurana (Clelia):
unless they can get to the same size as pythons, how does this help with what Florida is battling with pythons?
snakes don't chew, they swallow whole, so the best case scenario leaves you with 2 dead snakes, one being eaten (python) and one doing the eating (mussurana)... being the ratio would be 1:1, seems like it would awfully cost prohibitive...

Geesh... ya think that they would have learned from the movie, Mimic.

Some other species will suffer for this in the long-term.
Yeah, King snakes will probably be the first to get wiped out. Whoops.

Oh Lord, don’t tell Tgrrrdad about this. He’ll be down there trying to catch them.
