I’ve received three voicemails a day offering me anywhere from $40k-$80k and $500 a month payments for the last six months. And it’s never the same number so blocking them is useless

If female, I let her get halfway into her pitch then I interject with “say my name”.

You should be able to block all numbers from a certain prefix (800, 866, 888, ect).
I did this, and Verizon limits you to 10 area codes. I'm still getting at least 20 calls a day. I wish we had the death penalty for these people.

If you have AT&T download the Active Armor app. It has worked wonders for me. 50 a week is now maybe one a week

you get legit calls from numbers you don’t recognize(dr office, contractors)
Then they can leave a message. Why would you answer a phone call from a number you don’t recognize?

I didn’t know you could. Thanks for the tip!

Every day 3-5 times. I get a call from a local number. Say hello. 4 second pause. "beep" sound and a Pakistani tells me about the great loan I can get.

“They can leave a message”. You think filtering through a bunch of fake messages to search for a legit one doesn’t waste time? A lot of time people don’t even check their voicemail because people assume it’s spam marketing.

If the call isn't in my contacts, if its important they will leave a VM. It seems like it goes through phases. For two months there are not many, then all of a sudden its multiple times a day for a week, but lately I don't think I have hand many at all.

If I have time I like to waste their time. I’ll talk to them and act like I’m so interested and so in and they will want to close and I say FU and hang up.

How does this work for all the places you don't regularly deal with (like customer support) that call you back? You just miss it?
Or you have to think ahead and turn the filter off when you think you have a call like that coming?
--
Yeah, you have to turn the filter off, then turn back on.

I don't have voicemail on my main number.
People who know my number text me or call at a prearranged time.
I have a Google number for docs and pharmacy.
I hope it annoys the EFF out of spammers to get a no VM message.

I did that once. This was several years ago, but I answered and the woman said she was a microsoft rep.. She pretty much told me I had some type of bug in windows so I kept asking her questions. She told me that it could be fixed but it would cost x amount.. I acted like she had me hooked and then told her "I have a mac. I don't use windows idiot!". The only thing it did was waste some of their time, but I am sure there were some sad saps who probably paid thinking it was really microsoft.

I got Verizon. I rarely get spam calls. Maybe once a month max.

I am retired so I just screw with their heads. My favorite is to tell them i know this is Dominos and I start screaming where is my pizza.

I bet the majority of people complaining sign up for every discount, etc at stores. Keep putting your # in every sold database.

my personal phone is my work phone and i get work calls all day errr day from unknown numbers. also get 3-5 "this is julie in finance" calls daily. sucks. work will pay for a separate phone - they pay for my personal one now - but the idea of lugging 2 phones around sounds way worse than a few spam calls a day
tldr - frick the people behind these spam calls

Long time ago, I read that if you pick up and remain silent, their computer will think your number is bad. So it takes your number off the list.
Not sure if true but I’ve been doing this for years and I only get one spam a month now.
I remain silent and wait for the caller to say hello.
