What do you think, should I offer to send her a check or some cash as a reward? Personally I would not expect anything for doing the right thing. I don't want to insult the woman but I do appreciate the hell out of her turning my wallet in.
Don't send her cash, send her an experience to show your thanks. Restaurant girt card or something along those lines. Glad to see you got it back!

The lady who turned it in left a note with her name and phone number requesting a call to make sure I got it back. My friend called her and she says the lady talked her ear off for ten minutes. I will have to call her tomorrow.
Call her up, thank her, let her talk your ear off if she wants to. Then send her a gift card to somewhere nice, even if she tells you not to.

Call her. Let her talk your ear off. Ask her what her favorite restaurant in the area is as a recommendation for your next trip. Send her $100 gift card to that restaurant.

Gift card is the correct way.

Definitely what she said...
For real though, thanks for sharing. We all need stories like this from time to time to remind us that humanity really Canberra decent.

I had a similar experience at VooDoo Fest in 2011. In the middle of a drunken acid trip I apparently took my wallet out and took all my cards and IDs and cash and laid them out on the City Park grass in a rainbow style and walked away.
They next day I woke at my friend's house in Uptown and realized my whole wallet was gone. I knew it for dead because if I left it in that big arse park full of festival goers someone surely took it and I resigned myself to the fact I was going to have to cancel and replace everything. It was Sunday and we were watching the juggernaut Saints offense get shut down by the shitty Rams, souring my mood even further, when I got a facebook message from a security guard at VooDoo saying a patron turned in my wallet the night before and was asking if I was going back that day, so I told him I was and I got his number and told him I'd call him when we were back at the park
Got there, called him, found him by the stage in between shows and he handed me my wallet, all my gift cards, debit card, credit card, student ID, and $300 cash still accounted for. Still remember him telling me some lady turned it in the night before and said she saw all the contents spread out in an arc on the ground, and he told me to thank god an honest person stumbled upon it and turned it in and I should probably take it easier that night
I refrained from alcohol or psychs that night. Just smoked a couple bowls and the Raconteurs put on a badass show.

I pulled up to an ATM on Government St. once, and someone had left their card in the machine. The machine was quite actually asking "Would you like to make another transaction?" I pulled the card out and looked up the guy on social media. I sent him a message, saying I had retrieved his card. He proceeds to tell me that he is at a bar in downtown BR, and could I come bring him the card? I do, and he was completely thankless. Engineer who worked at Dow. I shoulda bought the whole bar a round before returning his card to him (joking, I would never do that).
Glad everything turned out ok for you. You should definitely send her something.

You dont owe her anything. She gets to live with the idea that she did a good deed, but that’s really not a good deed. That’s called doing the right thing. I will never think as a society that we should reward people for doing the right thing. We should just do the right thing. Would you expect a gift card if you were in her position? I sure as hell wouldnt, I would just turn the wallet it knowing that I did the right thing and go on about my business. This is a pay it forward mindset

I found a wallet on the ground next to my car at the parking garage I parked at daily about 10 years ago as I was headed home from work. Cash, ID, credit cards, everything.
I gave the parking booth attendant a note with my name and cell number as I exited the garage and told em to have the guy call me if anyone asked about the lost wallet.
The guy called me the next day and he worked in the same building. Came to my office and got it (i made sure his name matched the ID/cards). He tried to give me $100, which I refused. Then he said ‘can i at least give u $40 for lunch’, which i also refused. He kept saying thanks and that he appreciated it, which was all i needed.

I found a $10 bill at Walmart once. There were people around and I didn't see anyone drop it so finders keepers.
The next day I had a $20 in my pocket. I ended up losing it. Karma's way of telling me that $10 was not mine.

Friend,
What a lovely story. I refuse to believe all the negativity that permeates peoples words in certain corners of the world because the world I see is filled with acts of kindness and love.
Please skip gift cards to bad chain restaraunts as an appropriate act of thanksgiving. Gift cards, especially to a chain restaurant, are so impersonal, corporate, and plastic. Consider contacting her local florist and getting a lovely floral creation sent to her house.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

Assuming you had $20-$50 in your wallet (a normal amount), I'd PayPal or Venmo her $100. If you had a lot more in your wallet, then I'd increase that proportionately.
Just think about how much money and frustration it would’ve cost you if you had to replace your license and all the other things you lost in your wallet. Not to mention, the anxiety over the next few months wondering if your information has been sold, and if you were going to be the victim of identity theft.

Glad you got your stuff back.
About 16 years ago my wife found a lady's purse in McDonalds that had $9500 cash in it. It was for a lady from Grand Isle who was heading to the airport to go on vacation. My wife and her friend looked through it for a phone number, finally got a hold of the lady and went meet her in Boutte to deliver her purse to her. She offered my wife and I to stay at a camp rental she had in Grand Isle but my wife declined.

Take or send her flowers with a thank you note. Need to reinforce what good's left in this world these days.
Great story BTW.

Offer her a reward. Hopefully she declines. But take her name and address anyway and send her something- a gift card, box of steaks, Honey Baked ham. Just something to let her know how much you appreciate her honesty. I’d hit that gas station employee up too. Send him/her a token of appreciation.
