Sounds like a vacuum cleaner, Electrolux
My grandparents in Roswell NM lived near an electrolux dealership (operated out of someone's house). The lady loaned us a vacuum with a bunch of rigid metal hose extensions. As kids, we go house to house and get paid to use the vacuum to remove wasp nests. It was pretty lucrative and great mischief was done with the bags full of wasps.

Drove a Cadillac Lyric. That thing was opulent but still not something I can see putting in my garage.
Paid $1000 for a Tesla charger installation at my house
My electric bill was significantly higher when we had it plugged in all the time and I got sticker shock when I went to renew the license and TN wanted $200 instead of $50.
Supercharging top-off was like $20-$30 if you had to get electricity in the wild so a modest savings over gas there.
After that I was done with the whole stupid experiment.

A Hilux is meant to be driven and abused, then when it has 400k miles on it, towed to South America for them to rebuild and abuse some more. Not some piddly EV toy
If I'm talking about Toyota trucks that are not sold in the US.....I want a 70 series Land Cruiser. The Hilux is basically just an older platform Toyota truck with some modern styling. When all we can get is the NERF'd Tundra and Tacoma....the Hilux seems awesome.
It blows my mind that Toyota still makes these, and it infuriates me that I can't get one in the US:
The only thing sold that was close to the 70 series "old school mechanical durability" philosophy in the US recently was the 5th Gen 4Runner. In 15 years, that's the model people are going to miss.

Not interested, give me the 3.0L diesel with ~400mi range.
Heck, I have a 2024 Ford Escape that gets 37 MPG. I can go over 500 miles a tank. At todays gas prices, it costs about 30 dollars to fill up,
When I stop at Bucees, I spend more on food and trinkets than gas.

If there is a box to check for a 12.7mm or M2 mount this may be worth it.

I’m sorry, I may have missed it. How is Tesla “in shambles?”
Posted on 11/19/25 at 9:15 am to CAD703X
Won’t matter in the US. We can’t get HiLuxs here which sucks.
Those damn things are all over the ME and are damn near indestructible.

Don't forget you'll need to shut off that AC in July to save on the battery, just so you can get a few more miles out of the battery.

Chinese are building little shitty Evs dirt cheap that are all over Europe. A few of them are better rated than teslas. This car is for Europe nor USA
They have something called efficient and cheap mass transportation Luke subways, and bullet trains etc there so you don’t have to drive much and all of Europe is about the size of the Sourh

still don't understand why Toyota doesn't sell the HILUX in the USA. I would buy one today if it was available. Great freaking vehicle.

and unlike gas, if you're not driving the EV and its sitting in the garage; all the electronic stuff will drain the battery so you'll go to bed at 80% and wake up the next day at 73%.
another dirty little ev secret no one tells you about.
sure you can keep it plugged in, but then you're just burning electricity for a car that's not being used to keep it at 80%.

Is the Hilux the one that's the model of choice for the jihadists to mount machine guns to?
If so, giving them an EV with shitty range is solid counter terrorism strategy by Toyota. Let them run out of juice in the middle of the desert, far away from any electricity to recharge. Then they're sitting ducks for air strikes

I'm a fan of Toyota and EV's. But turning Toyotas most rugged ORV into an EV is stupid. Really stupid.
A lot of y'all need to get out and see the world. Not everyone needs 300+ mile range.
In a lot of Asian countries, i.e. Taiwan, Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, small pickup trucks with traditional beds, flat beds and small boxes are all used as actual delivery vehicles from everything from fresh produce to spare machine parts. The hilux is a mainstay in that enormous market of fleet delivery trucks.
They probably very rarely travel more than 75 miles in a day but are making many short deliveries on very congested streets - small nimble delivery trucks are essential. Toyota could absolutely own the fleet delivery market in these countries. Easily 10's of Thousands yearly sales.
That's not really stupid.

Must be the system that regulates the temperature of the battery pack, that is several kW of power being used to drop 7% overnight like that. That's like running a small space heater. I'm sure the onboard computers, wifi, etc take their share of it too.

At one point I was such a fan that I made TM 8% of my IRA.
After these last 5 years I'm considering baling. They have made some bad choices.
If I'm interpreting the numbers correctly, TM is up 39% over five years and 58% over 10 years. Seems pretty safe to me.

I know a couple that own his and hers matching Teslas, their only vehicles. They went out of town taking his car, hers bricked itself in their garage during a software update. Had to have it towed several hours away to the nearest Tesla dealer with the capability to service it. I know exotic Italian sports cars will break down or develop oil leaks standing still too...
