Yeah I'm probably gonna buy another turkey tomorrow while they're still on sale just to keep in the freezer for when I want a good gumbo

I have two in the freezer now that I got on sale. We do smoked turkey 2-3 times a year, make stock from the carcass, and make gumbo with that stock. Most of the meat winds up in the gumbo, but we do enjoy one good turkey dinner when the bird comes off the smoker.

That green bean casserole with mushroom soup and the French's fried onions on top is yankee garbage. Disgusting.

Amen to that. Just a lazy way to use green beans for a casserole and looks like what a mama bird upchucks to feed its chicks.

I don't like pecans and I won't eat pecan pie or pumpkin pie even if it's the only dessert

Pecan pie is the single most overrated pie out there.

And that goes double for people that call it Pee-can pie

The gym should be open on Thanksgiving so you can get away from annoying family members visiting.

44 years old and I still am not sure what stuffing is. Is it that stuff that’s sold in a red box?

Breakfast sausage in cornbread dressing is horrible.

recipe?

3 cans green beans drained(16oz each)
1 can artichoke hearts drained (14 oz)
Salt and pepper(I guess to taste)
1 cup Italian bread crumbs
Half cup good parmesan cheese
Quarter cup of olive oil
Diced or pressed Garlic. Wife wings this part so amount to your taste but I'd think at least a couple tablespoons pressed.

Add the ingredients to a mixing bowl and toss until well mixed. Place in a greased one and a half quart casserole dish and bake at 350 for 1 hour. This yields about 6 servings.

Hmm? So, nix the usual French's fried onions?

Worth a shot.

Do it! Tinker with the garlic and salt and pepper. Heck, add more parmesan if you like.

Cornbread Dressing is the GOAT holiday side dish.
Nothing else comes close imo.

I wouldn’t miss it at all of it wasn’t on the table. We cook a filet, and do a ham which is significantly better than Turkey.

If the turkey isn’t fried I’m not eating it.

Dressing up for Thanksgiving is stupid. Why should I wear a sweater/collared shirt when I plan on stuffing my face, lying around watching football, and playing football outside?

If you’re not watching Plains, Trains, and Automobiles the day of / day before Thanksgiving you are missing out.

I enjoy smoked turkey but I hate getting up at 4 AM to start it (family insist on eating at 12:30). I prefer fried turkey now because I’m lazy.
