Unfortunately France. I think the French are a bunch of cowards and pussies, and I’m embarrassed to have their surname.

Oh now, they ain’t all that bad, they tried to fight against the nazis but were overwhelmed by by German firepower. But they did help us in a very crucial point in our history, we would have been in trouble without them when fighting England for our independence….:

France was a crucial ally to the American colonies during the Revolutionary War, providing essential military support, money, troops, and naval power after signing the Treaty of Alliance in 1778, transforming the conflict into a global war for Britain and securing American independence. This alliance began with covert aid and formalized into a military pact following the American victory at Saratoga, offering legitimacy and vital resources like weapons, soldiers (like Lafayette), and naval blockades.

Scotland-Northern England. Basically what they call the Borders.

I went to Scotland about 20 years ago and located our family crest and tartan. Visited a few locations where we were said to come from (Edinburgh, Berwickshire). I didn’t have the heart to tell my dad we were NOT nobility. I don’t come from stable boys but we were nothing special.

Polish AF. My last name is only 8 letters long, but has a W K Z T D and R.

Some of the names in the Polish cemetery where my grandmother is buried in NY are 17-20 letters long, with 1 or 2 vowels.

I consider myself lucky in that regard.

Pretty much the same here.

Medieval era Vikings who had settled off the north coast of mainland Scotland in the Orkney Islands archipelago. Eventually migrating south to Berwickshire, Scotland.

Google Audet dit La Pointe if you want the history.

My last name is La Pointe but when I lived in metro ATL I hung out with a guy whose last name was Audet. He was from NH and my grandfather was born in NY. A long lost cousin???? 1M times removed? Ha!
