The one i saw a couple weeks ago was an ad for a new movie

I went to an airshow that had a skywriter pilot doing tricks in a prop plane. The announcer discussed while he was doing the tricks that the pilot is one of only a handful left. Guess it's a phased out profession when you can pull behind the big banners.

We moved to BR in the middle of the David Duke governor campaign and I was young, so had no idea about any of that. I did watch NCAA basketball and was aware Duke was playing in the Final Four. It was also towards the end of the runoffs. I remember being on the playground, and a plane wrote out “DUKE” and I thought, wow someone really likes the Blue Devils.

In the summer of 1986 when I was 8 years old over….. my neighborhood in Center Point, Alabama , I saw a sky writing for Bartles and James Spirits.

I thought it was the coolest thing I ever saw at that time.

The last time I saw sky writing was over Hollywood studios at DW. They were from some religious group.

Over DW is probably the best place for that.

I’m pretty sure that stuff was banned back in the 80’s for being overall bad for….everything! The airplane, the environment, people inhaling it….

Skytyping was more common if I’m remembering correctly.

In the David Duke elections in the late 80s early 90s, he used it by writing Duke across the sky. Funny as hell walking out of our plant with some of the brothers looking up and shaking their heads.

Back in the mid to late 80's the Baton Rouge Buick dealership was sold to Terry Spitzer. He started an ad campaign that included skywriting his last name. Each day they would add an additional letter until it was fully spelled out.
