this. procedure isn't all that bad. Agree on crown procedure being worse when they are grinding your tooth down with what feels like jackhammer

I just had one done about a year ago. Compared to the past its not bad at all. Just remember to take the meds afterwards.

It depends. My last root canal lasted over an hour with the dentist dancing a jig because it went perfect. I have had 4 wisdom tooth extractions. 3 where nothing. The 4th was not good. My grandmother had to come take care of me to make sure I did not swallow all the pain pills.

Having an abscess Ed tooth is a lot worse than getting a root canal. The root canal is the end of the pain.

Had one two weeks ago. The shot in the gums to deaden before is the worst part. You can’t feel any of the drilling. My mouth was sore for two days after. They called me in pain pills but I just took ibuprofen for two days and was fine. Putting in the permanent crown was a piece of cake for follow up.

Protip/ tell them to put some Vaseline on your lips as they’re doing stuff as they dry out and you can’t lick them so they’ll crack . Learned that the hard way

Seems I’m not the only one who fell for the ole “it’s just vaseline“ trick. Did you perhaps go to an endodontist named Dr. Jizzum?

I had one and don’t remember a damn thing. No pain.

Find a dentist that will give you the gas plus a good med. (not all will- I had to go to one of the fancier ones- my regular dentist wouldn’t do it). I woke up after it was done.

I had to have someone drive me home and I slept for half a day but it was worth it.

Not bad at all. I’d take a root canal over the crown procedure any day.

Same. Root canal wasn't bad. Grinding down the tooth for the crown with that super coarse drill was torture for me.

Had mine done by an endodonist after waiting longer than I should have and it was sweet sweet relief.

The crown was a bitch.

Have it done by an endodontist (root canal specialist). Will be painless, will only take around an hour, and the result will be perfect.

If you're hurting bad enough it will be blessed relief almost instantly.

I have had 5 now...

Not great when the regular dentist did it. I got smart and #3 on were done by endodontists. Those were better than regular cavity treatments. (Those guys/girls know their shite and are efficient as hell).

Worst part is having your mouth held all the way open by that clamp thing for a couple hours.

This. If you are feeling pain you need to tell the dentist/endo to give you more of the numbing agent.

I personally find the grinding down of the tooth for the crown way worse.

You really shouldn’t feel any pain. Had a root canal done last year due to an abscess and it wasn’t bad. The Endodontist who did the procedure eased my fears when he said that the nerves were already dead so I would not feel any pain. Sure enough, nothing. Felt pressure from the drilling but no pain.

It's nothing. Don't listen to the pussies in this thread. You will feel nothing except total numbness.

They’ll numb you up.
I fell asleep during my last.

It lasted 2 hours from numb-to-crown.

I left and immediately went to Jersey Mike’s for a Philly.

Why is it so painful when the area properly numbed.

Not that bad. They drill out your tooth. Remove the roots and set in a filling then a crown.
