Where Tim Cook screwed up big time was that insanely over priced headset and Apple horrifically missed the AI boat. Two major blunders.

Steve is spinning rapidly in his grave over these two frick ups.

It doesn’t matter, I, for one, one can’t wait to have the same exact phone for the next 40 years.

I hear this a lot. Out of curiosity, what more would you want your phone to do?

Have the same call quality and reliability that my land line had in 1990.

It’s apples job to tell us what we are missing out on. But I did just upgrade from iPhone 14 to 17 and I did not notice a difference. They have jumped the shark on the iPhone. I think I read they are basically living off of AirPod sales these days.

well let's see: Elon is creating neural links that go inside your head, robots that will assist people in their homes and starlink which provides phone and data anywhere on the planet for starters...

Apple has.... Added more cameras to their phones

We don’t know what we don’t know. Before the iPhone came out we didn’t even know that it was even possible. It was a giant leap than any of the “smart” phones of the time. I had a Windows phone that was absolute garbage after I held the first iPhone in my hand. The next 16+ iterations have been incremental. Would love to see a huge leap forward again of some sort.

Until we reach our next battery tech breakthrough, we’re stuck in an iterative phase, not a revolutionary one. The lithium ion battery ushered in the tech era we live in. Until it’s replaced by something equally revolutionary, we are where we are regarding small tech.

For context, think about trying to power your current cell phone with a lead acid battery.

They have never been innovative. Their advantage is marketing and they used to be good at design.

The guy in the article may be able to reestablish an advantage in design, but Apple will instead end up promoting some carnival barker who will truly run the company into the ground.

People expect iPhones to perform magic by now.

Meanwhile, people also want their cars to not change from 120 year old internal combustion engines.

Yeah, but we get super-cool marketing each year with flashy colors, diverse actors, and bald women...which lets us know exactly how cool and hip the phone is!

Iphones have trouble keeping up with the features of their android competitors. Every new tech they market as being revolutionary has been an android staple for years. Better marketing, that's all they have.

I want updates to be easier to install and not completely destroy my phone (intentionally). So I'm good if they just start with that. Seems like a pretty low bar.

Mask my network information so when I say “yea, product X looks kinda cool, not sure if I’d buy it though”, I don’t get nonstop advertisements in every one of my apps for product X

I've been hearing this since 2012. Apple has 85% market share with Gen Z.

Apple is going nowhere.
