I like the plain one from Rouses. Never a fan of the filled ones.

Cajun Market Donut Company in Lafayette.

I like their amaretto walnut. It is the best king cake I've ever had. I drive from BR to Lafayette every year to get their cakes.
I don't like the heavy icing king cakes or the donut ones... Keller's are perfect.

DP is okay but wayyyy overrated
Caluda’s and Antoine’s are carbon copies of Randazzo’s
Marguerite’s is the best and I got blasted for saying that in the past.
Also, people who make those dumb “the knife stays in the box/out the box!” Facebook posts suck

Thanks for replying. I think I am going to check this out.

Calandro’s supermarket in BR makes a really nice king cake.

Thanks for all the replies fellas and yes I was being serious. I had to move to Texas to get a job and all my fattie Houston co workers expect me to come up with a king cake and since it’s been a few years since I left and my memory isn’t the best I reached out to the experts here. I really do appreciate yall

Not a traditional cake, but Brennan’s banana’s foster cake is the best I’ve ever had.
The first year they did them they were better, but still very good.
Mother frickers charge an arm and a leg for a king cake, but I’ve gotten at least one since its inception.

A plain rouses king cake is elite

It depends on what you like.
I like the white icing, so I prefer Caluda's.
The little platter they put in there gives it a nice touch. It's a local artist's work.

This is true but randazzos wants $69.95 for their medium traditional.
That's laughable even with the delivery charge included.

My favorite for sure. It only lasts a couple days though. Out of all king cakes, this one goes stale the fastest but is also the freshest when you purchase it. Not sure how that works.

Caluda's is far from a copy of Randazzo, but I do agree that Antoine's is almost exact.

Nolita is favorite so far this year. Sugar and dough.
