About 10 years ago I bought a book called "Guts" by Gary Paulsen (author of Hatchet and other great books). It's basically a 150 page book fair autobiography. But one line stood out to me in the whole thing, "All wild animals are dangerous, but only the moose is insane."
Yep. My aunt lives in Alaska. My cousin told me about moose going into rutt. They would charge at trains. Trains would get derailed from them.
Being from Louisiana, I didn't know why everyone was running. I am like, it's just a moose. Then the sob saw me. Luckily I was a teenager and could run just fast enough to haul arse up that boulder.

Looking out the back door of my grandmother's house while she and my Mom made lunch. Wichita Lineman in the radio.
Cooking an armadillo over an open fire during a rainstorm, under a rigged-up tin shelter, with one of my Dad's buddies.
Watching how people behaved/misbehaved at cockfights.

I have no idea what’s going on with you two, but I can assure you that whatever it is, we don’t care.

Riding on the floor of my Dad’s aluminum boat, driving through the Atchafalaya Basin while watching the sun come up. I can still hear that old Yamaha 40 2 stroke.

I remember visits from my grandparents on the weekends. My grandfather loved ice cream and I remember taking my turn at the crank of the ice cream freezer. There was no AC so a bowl of ice cream in August was great.

This caused another smile memory.
Being on the Intracoastal Waterway with Dad and my brother and pulling a shrimp net from midnight until 4am. Hauling nets (and those heavy arse doors) and picking through to keep the shrimp, flounder and blue crab for bait and breakfast.
And being on the pier dropping ribbons to catch El Whys (I know that's the wrong spelling) so Dad could go for skip jacks.

I stopped by a thrift shop - antique shop a few weeks ago and I swear when I walked in it smelled identical to a Blockbuster Video - it was so insane. They actually had a pretty decent size Movie section with old tapes and DVDs. It was surreal.

Going to McDonalds was a somewhat rare treat.
My dad wouldn’t buy us a cheeseburger bc we had cheese at home. He is still a ridiculously cheap mfer as a 70 year old.
