Would you want to drive on that bridge that they have? Probably because people fear it collapsing.

Old Money did everything they could to thwart expansion so they could retain power

The culture is much more blue collar that didn't have white collar designs, unlike Lafayette. They have had much more polar economic progress while we don't have the extreme ups or downs bc of the culture, economic mindset, and the type of petro industry we have.

I'd drive on it but not in a high wind.

I moved here from shreveport 3 years ago. We love it down here. Large lot quiet part of town. Super close access to water and fishing and the parks are top notch.

Yup.

There is no mindset in lake Charles. I think that’s the majority of the problem. I see it and have always seen it as just a place that lazy people who want zero risk stay in but like to talk the big game like they worked in a tower in Houston and understand all the pieces to the puzzle when you live in LCH haha.

I just find a lot of the people laughable. There are tons of great people as well but the majority are laughable and 9/10 you could talk about moving etc. and they “know for a fact” lake Charles is the best place possible for them. It’s literally a crock of shite.

Also the large majority there are not well traveled so they really don’t know shite to be honest.

Dont' count that idea out. Chicago is not growing like it should and big companies are leaving. Their genious mayor is not helping anything.

Must be how New Yorkers felt after 9/11.

Been living in LC for 17 years. I seriously doubt that.

Naw, I didn’t make that crucial mistake of marrying wrong.

This is all just lifetime experience with the place and it’s people which I then compare to the 7 other states 1 country I’ve lived in.

I know the lake Charles group won’t like the comment and that’s perfectly ok. I know they are uninformed and I am very informed so I am comfortable with the resentment when I tell people how debilitating that place is to your soul.

It’s not easy to assimilate with the locals if you are not from the area. They are still a bit backwards but the casinos have changed things up. The entire economy outside of the casinos is plant driven. Lafayette 45 minutes away is a much cooler place to live raise a family and then you have Houston just down I-10. It seems that each time the area shows growth potential it gets slammed by a major hurricane. Laura was very devastating for the city.

You're an idiot. I live in Lake Charles. It's a country town.

It's not bad. I like it

There is a bigger population outside of the LC city limits. The area has a decent amount of folks residing there.

You went completely off the rails about the area right after Laura.
