The current system is perfectly fine. It's a great compromise and works. The fact that this is an issue kind of blows my mind.
Hell, most clocks change themselves now.
I'm 54 and I don't ever remember a time where anyone seriously pushed for a change to the system. Maybe as a fringe proposal no one ever took seriously.
These threads make it obvious half the population will be pissed of we actually choose between standard and daylight savings.
Whining about this is some baby soft shite. People seems to have a need to bitch and moan about stupid shite and this is a twice a year example.

Make the standard month 30 days all around while you are at it. No more of this 30,31,28, and 29 bullshite either.

19 states have voted to stop doing a time change twice per year. 2 already stopped (AZ and HI).

Without changing the clocks, their sunrise and sunset times are still only about an hour different in the middle of winter as they are in mid summer
Hawaii and Arizona already do what they want to do.

Hawaii and Arizona are not breaking the law. Federal law allows states to not do daylight saving time (observe standard time year round).
However, federal law does not allow states to do daylight saving time year around.

Those 19 want to keep DST (needs Congressional Approval) while AZ and HI don't observe it (which doesn't require Congressional Approval).

States are allowed to opt-out of DST. They are not allowed to opt-out of standard time.

Why not combine DST and Standard time?

We should have 13 months The year should start in March
What’s the point of even having months? Why not just have days 1-365 of each year

I am pretty good with time zones given the nature of my work being global but those 30 min ones are a complete mind f*ck.

I love standard time. Feels normal again.
