the people who wear white coats in hospitals usually aren't doctors. NPs, PAs, and pharmacists love sporting the white coat.

The real people you should be shitting on are Chiropractors with those cucks are calling themselves "doctors" with very limited education.

I disagree. I admire doctors and we need them. Its a very prestigious profession and they make a killing. Very few people are smart enough to make it through the grueling school that they have to do.

I have a lot of doctor clients. None of them have 500K in student loan debt unless they borrowed every dime of their living expenses as well from first day of undergrad to last day of residency. Most are closer to 200K.

Assuming that 200K isn't being handled by your employer... most docs pay it off within 10 years.

You are then making a very nice salary in a well respected field.

There are doctors that have financial issues. This is because they are poor at making financial decisions. I have doctor clients that have a take-home pay of close to 400K but spend 425K per year in personal expenses.

if i stayed at my current job and make partner next year, i'd be averaging 700k a year. instead i'm taking a job with a slight paycut (650k a year) for more vacation and remote work (7 on 14 off).

so yeah, your numbers are off.

What is your nightly productivity at that job like? How many total studies? How many are cross sectional? Number of RVUs?

What about the day job? What were the annual RVUs like?

I’ve never been to the doctor’s office and seen anyone with a wad of money or a limitless charge card paying the bill. However there does seem to an unlimited demand as nobody actually believes in paying for services such as these anymore.

Pt's slip me extra from time to time. Got a $500 give today. Maybe we should put out a tip jar like other service industries.

Most doctors I know are a hell of a lot more content than the lawyers I know.

Most thoughtful people don't make career decisions based purely on a financial math formula, those that do often have a miserable life.

This. I tell any young person interested in medicine to go to medical school because you want to become a doctor, not for the money. You will be unhappy otherwise.
Also another topic not mentioned here is the number of doctors that meet their partner in medical school. A 2 doctor household will absolutely crush it assuming both continue to work.

People should do what makes them happy, but most don’t.

They became doctors because they wanted to be a doctor.

Because paying off $400 to $600 in student debt doesn’t take long at $300 to 800K per year. You have time off and are “on call” sometimes, which usually requires calling a RX in or sending them to the ER. You have time for family.

Calculate it out to a percentage of salary etc… and it’s nothing.

The 7 on 14 off is an average of 90 rvus per shift

My job now is a day job with 1 shift focused on US, X-ray, and procedures, and the other on cross section

Cross section days are typically 50-60 ct/mri

Other shift is typically 120-130 studies with 80/20 X-ray to ultrasound. And typically a couple para/thora, a couple biopsy, and a couple esophagrams and an injection or two

Let’s not forget about physician mortgages which require very minimal down and no PMI.

You see my post a few pages back? I think becoming a commercial pilot is the best investment long term someone can make if they want to have a lucrative career, without the stress and BS of most other high paying professions.

Wow, what terrible advice!

There will be no more commercial pilots in 20 years, maybe a lot less.

all of my friends that are doctors seem to live pretty good lives

they have frustrations, of course, but only 1 has ever suggested he wouldn't do it again

he suggested this as he was swimming in his $100k pool

I know several doctors who are swimming in debt. It's a very Joneses profession and they seem to hemorrhage money trying to keep up. U Club is full of them.
