Would anyone buy the GMC Hummer EV?

As for as the look of it, I think it looks pretty cool. Being a truck hybrid is a plus.

I would like a Rivian SUV or a Porsche Taycan cross turismo. For my specific use those would be the best options on the market right now. Space and 800hp, yes please.

Charging infrastructure has to be improved. We need more rapid chargers, and more of them on secondary highways.

And of course we need to figure out the whole issue of how the power grid handles this, but that's not really my problem specifically.

That thing costs $120,000. It's awesome, but I wouldn't spend that much on a vehicle.

Only as a third car for the family. I would never feel comfortable enough to depend on the power grid should SHTF

I would if I didn’t drive so many miles for work. I could see it benefiting my wife since she might drive 35 round trip every day.
So yes we could do it in a very small capacity

my boss bought an extended battery tesla this spring.

my boss is in San Antonio. i'm in Temple. at the height of Gas prices this summer, i filled up my ford escape for $50 and then made it down to Brownsville. Filled up $30 3 days later and made it home.

my boss charged up in SA at his home. Stopped in Kingsville at a non-rapid charger and waited an hour. then made it down to the valley, charged his car and i had to pick him up because we were going to miss an appointment. Dropped him off at his car, went to hotel, and then we used his car to run around. after we were done each day, he dropped me off at the hotel and he went to charge again and i had to pick him up. Before he left, he rapid charged again, then had to stop in Kingsville for an hour to slow charge.

I spent $80 on gas and less than 10 minutes filling up. He spent $40 on charging, but lost 4+ hours of sitting around waiting while also depending on me to pick him up from those charging stations. Do with that what you will.

No. I live close to every place that I drive, so gas isn't a significant part of my budget. When I DO drive somewhere far away, I don't want to stop to recharge. Besides, I can't pull a 10,000 lb. boat with a Tesla.

I am still on the Cybertruck waiting list if that's what you're asking.

No, overall the pros simply don't outweigh the cons. I wouldn't even buy a new ICE vehicle as the electronic nannies that govern them can render a vehicle electronically totalled. OEM's are only required to stock replacement parts for 7 years after the end of a model year, electronic parts are simply harder for aftermarket companies to produce, impossible if they require IP-protected software or code. Basically have to hope that whatever you own has enough popularity for a dedicated group to produce solutions at the user level to work around the OEM's.

Same. Gas is kind of an afterthought in my household budget and when we do travel we typically use my truck. I don't want the inconvenience of having to charge it.

Not now for sure. This technology is not where it needs to be and won't be for a long time

Absolutely. I'd buy a Tesla tomorrow.

FWIW, I'm an old gearhead. Built and rebuilt engines from lawnmowers to cars and on through 150HP farm tractors. I don't believe ICE will ever be fully supplanted. OTOH, I had a chance to drive a Tesla back midyear, and that thing is a goddamn legitimate sports car.

I would buy the home supercharger and use the car as a fun daily commuter. Charge it up every night and enjoy the hell out of driving it. Not as a save-the-planet kind of statement--just as one of the more fun cars available on the market.

Hell no!!

I drive a GMC Truck that's loaded.

The piece of crap electric version would cost me double.

Never park one of the electric death traps in your garage where it can burn your home down.

EVs may have 300 mile range at first, but bet that drops significantly over the years. With the recharge time like it is - an EV just isn’t a viable option for me or worth the risk.

I can only attest for my friend who has an X and Y. Tesla updates improved his range since he bought them. Battery degradation after 7 years has been minimal

Test drove a Model S. That bitch could fly! Pretty comfortable. I'm a truck guy but went with father-in-law. Fun ride but not for me. Doesn't fit my lifestyle at all.
